There's a picture floating around of the aftermath from a helicopter or drone shot. The boat went through the bridge support by like 40 feet. I'd link the Bluesky post but the author went semi private.

I mean maybe? But again, that kind of assumes that the ship doesn't just push the dolphin out of the way or completely dislodge it. I read someone who has (apparently) looked into these before and they have literally never been tested in action like this. Maybe they've worked like the tire guides in...Last edited by dxmnkd316; Yesterday, 07:48 PM.

it was also designed to withstand the strikes of the day, which happened to be like a tenth the size of the boats in that harbor today....

I understand the thought here, but the physics just don't work.
concrete piers would not stop that. It would need to be dozens of feet wide (if not north of 100) and long. It would turn anything smaller into sand..
a dolphin is like the plastic cover over your bumper. It's...

The energy that ship had if it were at 5 mph was like your car traveling at the speed of sound. At 10 mph it would be 3200 mph...

All of this is secondhand accounts:
It was a harbor pilot (CNN), so doubtful.
sounds more like it was a loss of power or loss of hydraulics and they were trying to get them restarted (power flickers). You can see a huge plume of smoke coming from the stacks at the last few...

How important was this bridge? Is this as bad or worse than 35W?

Oh yeah, we always owe state. I despise it. Can't we figure out our damn withholding? Probably the republicans fault. They love giving everyone a "raise" and then complain the democrats are taxing them in April. Real pieces of ****....

Also, are we sure he didn't misspell blacks? Seems like something he'd say....

I've also read that lowering this could have been contingent on a deal more or less in place from an organization who would float the money. So the $175 may not be arbitrary. In fact, the opposite could be true....

I actually have only minor issues with this. This is not an uncommon practice from what I've read, namely when defendants can't secure bond....

I figured it was something like that. We are ending up paying in this year to state and the feds even if we file joint. It's almost certainly due to my promotion in November, but I'm not totally sure.
I should have done a new W-4 at that point. We've gotten a refund almost every year now...

Sort of off topic but I have what might be a stupid question. How does an employer actually calculate how much to withhold based on your w-4 and salary?
I did some basic googling but the internet is awash in how to calculate your w-4 but not what happens behind the scenes.

Was just going to say. The biggest mistake in American history was not hanging Lee. (Obviously not Lincoln who did that.)
Washington, OTOH, probably would have had very little time for pieces of **** like Lee and Trump....Last edited by dxmnkd316; 03-25-2024, 08:05 AM.

This stuff coming out now and possibly having findings and fines by November would be quite good....

Sure. Just like Minnesota had no issues with Yale or Holy Cross and Mankato had no problem with whomever took a **** on their season.
it's the playoffs. It's hockey. The other three teams aren't push overs....

It's really sloppy but generally fine on the east side.
Went to brunch in new Richmond and on the way home there were like three cars freshly in the ditch....
