He also had a little one-touch pass in front of the net to Noesen (I think) that should have been a Grade A shot but it got whiffed on.
It's unlikely because he'll just be a black ace but hope we see him get into a game in the playoffs....

Well that rumor had been posted on the FB group but considering that the Canes don’t have an AHL team I figured it was just BS. What a gut punch....

EliteProspects will link to a confirmation when they add the school but this one just 404's now. Can't remember if it came from Madison or himself.
EP still has him listed as a Maine commit but I know sometimes they're late to the party updating compared to Heisenberg/etc
EDIT:...

Instagram post announcing his commitment also looks to be gone. That's a bummer if he isn't coming now....

The trio of Fowler/Russell/Makar is a solid upgrade over Trudeau/Pabich/Lindauer so already a good start to the offseason for Barr.
I have zero problem with Barr letting it be known that "just being there" isn't going to cut it, even if this team exceeded just about everyone's...

Chabrier for best defenseman and most improved. Boija would have my vote for unsung hero, although Scott has a good case as well. Co-MVPs maybe?...

Exactly the type of player Maine should be targeting out of the portal. Really happy he's coming to Orono....

Would love if we could get something similar to what Dayton 6th did this season for player trading cards. https://dayton6th.com/cards
I'm sure I'm not alone longing for the days of collecting the Black Bears team sets....

Biggest worry if Breen leaves is how thin they are down the middle. Scott, Renwick and a bunch of question marks....

Was surprised he didn't sign with them after last season, but will be rooting for him as a pro!...

Isn't that how Maine has typically operated?
Find the unheralded gems that play with a chip on their shoulder because the bigger schools didn't want them. Even dating back to the Walsh days those have been the type of players that Maine has had success with.
Obviously that...

Took a sucker punch and then whooped the guy's azz. Ended up taking a plea deal and charges got dropped but still got a 1.5 year suspension which was excessive....

Mass kid who models his game after Marchand. Feel like the fan base will warm up to him pretty quickly....

FWIW the university hit Lomberg with an unnecessarily harsh suspension for that incident back in the day. He got a raw deal, so I have been glad to see him have success beyond Maine....

Fowler was quite highly touted out of HS (NEHJ had him as the #1 player in Mass), so I'm sure Barr recruited him pretty heavily when he was still in Amherst.
Assuming he comes back without any complications from his injury I would think he could slide right into a middle six role....

That was my thinking as well. The Sharks have a middle of the pack prospect pool and a very bad NHL roster. A good season next year could see him get a call up....

Looks like Houle has signed an amateur tryout agreement with the San Jose Barracuda (AHL affiliate of the Sharks). Good luck to him in his professional career!...

For what it's worth, I believe Maine and Michigan Tech had the fewest draft picks (just 1) among any of the teams in the NCAA tournament.
Some good talent on the horizon and I'm sure Barr has his eyes on a couple portal guys. Hopefully he's able to pluck another unheralded gem like Sco...

Wood has the size/skill Maine needs but Mark Divver says Minnesota/Wisconsin/North Dakota are the likeliest destinations for him....
