  • They do have positions other than Head Coach for fundraisers who love their school and deal well with 40 to 60 year olds, but not so much with 16 year olds....

  • You can both be right.
    Facilities matter. And coaches matter.
Which leads me to my question to Potluck, you've named the Whitt as middle to lower in facilities.
Where do you rank Mike Souza's reputation within the hockey community (advisors/junior coaches) at the time hired and...

  • Disagree to some degree. The primary point is what conference you are in. Big 10>HE/NCHC>ECAC/CCHA/AHA
Second is if you're a coach on the rise. You are dependent on your teammates to increase your scoring and exposure, so pick a coach that other players will also pick
    Third is current...

  • Bob Kullen's first (1991) and last recruiting class (1992) allowed UNH to move from last place to the 1992 NCAAs (back when it was 12 teams). While Umile got his sort of recruits from Boston and the old GBL areas, Serino got them Boguniecki in 1993 to start the real wave, and McCloskey was able to take...

  • We can't have it both ways, saying "judge him on his nine-year lack of a winning record" and then dismiss the 20 wins. Is it an anomaly? My bet is yes (ish)*. But that's why you are essentially compelled to give him another year to see if it is an anomaly.

  • They reduced the bond, not the judgment amount. They also affirmed the provisions for oversight meaning his properties are not going anywhere. If affirmed on appeal, he'll still have to pay the whole thing, plus 9% interest.

And that's all assuming he can get a bond for 175m...

  • So, nobody has been more wrong about the Souza contract guesses than me. Remember, my speculation before we saw the contract was that Souza was surely on his last year in 22-23. In my defense, I underestimated Marty Scarano's old-boy instincts.

We also all have biases in how we view situations....
