Nah, as the mayor of America's largest and most visible city, Mamdani is playing nice. Abdul is clearly not here to do that, nor should he be.

Greenland agreed to let a UK oil company do some exploration in one spot. An American oil company (ominously called Greenland Energy) is going to buy that UK company and claim the rights. Oil drilling equipment has already showed up and the Greenland government have told them to get out. The child rapist war criminal posted an image on his account of himself peering over the mountains onto a town with the caption "Hello Greenland"

So apparently we're doing this again.

Typical playbook would be to start exploration, and when Greenland objects the US uses military force to "protect American assets" and the next thing you know the US flag is flying over their capitol.

It's pretty much expected at this point. This is the guy who gave a thumbs up at a hospital visiting shooting victims, who made victims in Texas meet him at the airport and famously had to be given notes on how to convey empathy when he met with victims from Parkland...

I frankly prefer this to any fake sympathy he'd show.
 
So, I have been watching and reading up on Democratic Socialism, socialism in general and it appears to be Anti-Capitalism. Not sure if I can get completely on board with that. However, the failure of Capitalism is entirely on the Democratic Governments, and voters in those nations. The Overton window having MOVED So far right, and probably furthest right on Economic policy is what is causing the rise of socialism and the failure of capitalism. Pure capitalism does not work. And it is entirely why Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos exist. In a just Democratic Capitalistic society neither of them would have near the money they have right now.

Republicanism has flourished over the last 4 decades because they have pointed to socialistic programs and their issues in the United States and pointed and said, there is your boogeyman. All the while hiding all the issues with capitalistic programs which are just a faulty and fraught with peril.

Which brings us to the middle. Somehow the Middle in the United States has adopted the socialism is bad mantra, but has failed to see the problems on the other side as dangerous. Thus, the thing that does not exist right now is the boogeyman, while the serial killer standing right next to everyone in the same room is invisible.

I look forward to telling my grandchildren stories about me as a kid living in a Democracy as King Trump rules for the next decade.
 
Fix the problem where a CEO thinks they're worth 300x more than their lowest paid employee, and where banks are giving them massive "lifestyle loans" based on the value of the company stock that they hold to evade taxes and claim their net worth. All the sharks living off of such loans become big paper tigers and liabilities for the banksters if they're unable to control their stock's price through manipulative means. Quit letting them easily do buybacks, get IPO rules changed, and all the other shit they do to artificially inflate/prop up the stock price and this patently corrupt system will collapse.

Oh wait, that requires having politicians who aren't bought and paid for thanks to lobbying and Citizens United. Yeah, we're fucked.
