Quinnipiac Bobcats 2025-26 - Viva Las Vegas!

Thank you, Seniors. Especially Victor, Cipollone, and Powers...the last 3 remaining players from the '23 championship team.

And thank you, Bobcats, for another great season. We are truly blessed to cheer on a program that competes in the national tournament year in and year out.

Next year, we want the WHITELAW!
I always fear time-change for East Coast teams traveling, playing night game . . . cannot recall too many masterful blowouts against a Rand team like this. ND plays to an average crowd of 16,000 and I think we lacked some physical size on Defense but i think it all fell flat at 3-0 and out, done....as the guy sitting near me watching that game said, "this team will be hard to be down 1-0". and the rest was just dust in the wind...so think of it that way, they gutted out a 1-0 loss and played hard....it's college hockey and Rand will get some size in his game at some point . . . this night, battle-bot up & down hockey was met by a bigger, stronger, physical team essentially almost on their home ice in their normal time zone. You root now for North Dakota to win it all and show the nation that you lost to the best team in the country....next season is almost here!!

Thanks to the coaching staff and players for another great season. We have so many skilled guys but need the size/toughness others have pointed out. That being said I am glad we won the natty when we did. Being a smaller school in the NIL world will be tough to get the top talent.

Rand is still young and hopefully he stays forever. Since this is our top sport I really hope we can be the draw to get that talent. Guys like Wyttenbach prove it. I know NCHC is at a different level, but seeing how UND and Denver play/reload can be humbling. But I know we can beat those teams because we have seen it personally. We need guys to grow/develop like Metsa did and have that special season every four years or so.

Looking forward to October already!

Disappointing to lose 5-0, but overall, I would say this was a successful season in the end. After losing to Alaska, losing the CT Ice finals, and the ECAC Tournament incident, I'm happy to walk away with a win over Providence.

If North Dakota wins the national title, it will mean that Quinnipiac lost to the eventual national champions in the same round in both men’s and women’s hockey, which would be an interesting anecdote

Onto the offseason!

Going to be interesting to see the goaltending situation next fall, with Kirsch coming in, Scopa on campus, and neither Marinov and Silverstein graduating. The forwards are, as always, looking to be very good technical players, but undersized (Dylan Edwards is 5'8, for example).

Onto the next, fellas

Yup, I see the same thing. West Coast teams flying to East Coast game, playing an 8 AM football game or a 4 PM or earlier hockey game. It throws the rhythm off.

Looks like Leddy just signed 2 year AHL contract with the Devils. Good for him. Was off to a great start until he was injured mid-season. Good luck to him - was a great addition to the team.
Good luck to him. To me it looked like he still was not healthy when he came back. He gave this team his all.

Looking back at things now, the team seemed to be playing better prior to Leddy, Pelosi and Borgala coming back. I love those guys but just seemed the line combos never gelled the end part of the season.

Speaks very well to the culture of our program that so few players enter the portal. Aside from guys who don't get a lot of playing time, we rarely see an influential player leave through the portal.

Add Pelosi to the list of returners.

Wyttenbach was robbed by Hobey... didn't make the Hobey Hat Trick. How does the nation's leading scorer not make the final three?

Biggest factor is strength of schedule along with his lack of being a two way forward. For any ECAC player to even have a sniff they would need 75-80 points. Jimmy Vesey winning in 15-16 for Harvard was a total joke and was pretty much a thank you after he lost to Eichel the year before. I personally didn’t have Ethan in my top 5 for the Hobey. So I’m not even surprised he wasn’t in the top 3.

Silverstein to the portal, per Mark Divver.
Not unexpected with Kirsch coming in. It's possible Marinov enters as well.

It's been my opinion that both of those guys would've been better without the other. Platooning didn't work for either of them.

I expect some of the guys that saw limited time will go into the portal as well but don't expect any "surprises".

Marinov might go in the portal from what I’ve heard. I think it depends on what goalies are in the portal. Frankly if there is no one good just have him as the backup. Ben Riche and Logan McCutcheon probably both enter the portal. Could even see Schultz too.

The years we went to the Frozen 4 our teams had in common elite, elite goaltending. Hartzell, Garteig, and Perets were all the real deal. I know we've all talked about how we weren't tough enough, but those teams weren't necessarily big and tough either -- our goalies covered up our warts in those seasons. Our team this year reminded me of Michigan in 2023. Elite skill up and down the roster, but the goaltending wasn't up to snuff and that's why we got 'em in the semifinals.

Obviously we're not beating North Dakota with a better goalie this year -- they boat-raced us -- but if we had a Hartzell or Perets level goaltender we probably don't fall as low as we did and there's a decent chance we're still playing. Those guys cover for a lot of mistakes. Inasmuch as it would be nice to get bigger and tougher, what we really need is an elite goalie. We can't win without one.

It all starts in net. Any one of those 3 guys on this team and we're playing this weekend.
