Wisconsin Hockey 25-26 Hastings Year 3 - Turning the Corner?

Oofff... I never root for injuries. I broke my ankle taking a shot once and it wasn't fun.

But then again... wouldn't have happened if he was still wearing a Badger jersey.

They kept mentioning what a loss he was while really not bothering to mention the two guys we have out and their value.
Milewski posted video. It was actually his own teammate on a shot from the blue line. He gets hit and hobbles off.

This would have been the year that Strammel, Whitelaw and Lucius would have been seniors on our first line if they had stuck with UW. Oh what could have been… oh never mind. We are going to the Frozen Four anyways.

Now the $64000 question: you gonna sit Knox or Phelan if Schulz comes back after you rode them this far? How rusty and what kind of game shape would he be in? Potential tough call.

I just meant that circumstances would have been different altogether - not that a Badger shot hit him.
Got it. I originally read a report that said it was Osburn's shot. The Milewski video clearly shows it was Strbak for the record. You quoted me before I was able to correct my error.

This place used to be so much fun - especially in the WCHA days.

I know all the Rodent posters went to GPL. Are there still Sue posters around at all?
I’m not sure about Sue posters beyond dirty as my memory has faded a bit but man this site was so much fun circa 2003-2007ish.

Dirty got suspended once with two others and that inspired the “free the USCHO Three!”

Plus the BC guy “old salty” who became “Chris!” Was always good for a laugh when he trolled UNH.

And the rat posters were fun, or at least some of them were . Brenthoven, and a few others…..

I wonder if Joeyv or Erik Hybert still lurk here once in a while.

You guys should see all the teeth gnashing on the X accounts of GPL and for Rodent fans, to sum:

1) Rodentsota fans going apoplectic that WI got to the FF
2) People being pissed at Ped St for breaking up the WCHA (I got that out of my system a long time ago)
3) Everyone wanting Denver and UMD to win for an All WCHA FF.
4) Yelling that WI isnt part lf the WCHA (lulz)
5) Sceams that Weasels were never in the WCHA
6) Rodent fans saying this couldnt have worked out any worse.

And I was there just thinking....

1) Sioux is a girl's name!
2) I demand Robbie Earl magic into my veins
3) Water bottle fight!

Don't forget Buckburger on Denver, Cleveland on UMD too.

But, you go to war with the army you have. And I think the adversity brought this team together.

The what if is hard to resist though.

I think I first joined this around 2007. Obviously my current handle is more recent.

I see a couple of Rodent posters are still in the Cafe, but it doesn't seem like they have a thread anymore. Some of them were fun and some of them seriously lacked a sense of humor. I guess things aren't all that funny when 6 is always > than 5. :D

The Sue posters and their one tree and especially the Tech fans were fun and seemed like people I'd want to hit a bar with. I still miss the old WCHA - before they bloated it with Omaha and BSU.

Who was the poster whose name was always used to give bad rep? Rimbaud?

I remember that once you got to a certain level of rep, you were basically invincible and could say whatever you wanted and troll as hard as you wanted and could just devastate noobs with bad rep if they got out of line haha. Gone are the days.

That's fine though as I don't care enough about rivalries anymore to get involved in all that with other fans. I've evolved, hence the 2.0.

Still can't stand the Gophers tho. In every sport. ;)

Oh yeah and fun fact... we drove the width of NoDak last summer on our way to Montana for a trout trip and because of the old Board days, I was expecting a desolate hellscape. Had never been to NoDak before.

It was gorgeous in its own way. Lots of green rolling prairie and pot lakes everywhere. Looked quite western and I can tell you, there was more than one tree. The badlands at Teddy Roosevelt Natty Park were stunning - prettier by far than the ones in SoDak.

Honestly, the worst part of the entire trip was the return across southern Minnesota. Looked like Illinois with nothing but boring farmland.

I think this is really what most people talk about when they say they miss the WCHA; basically the 80s/early 90s. After Michigan St, Notre Dame, and Michigan left in 81 but before St. Cloud, Bemidji, Minnesota St, and Omaha joined.

WCHA was a very unstable conf save for that 80s and early 90s period. Even then, both Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech spent big chunks in the WCHA.

And really, its the core of Wisconsin, Rodentsota, Sioux, Denver, and UMD that people are talking about they talk about the WCHA. So 5 teams.

Don't forget CC - the core 6!

My core nostalgia memories come from going to the Coliseum in the 90s, so Tech, SCSU and even AA and NMU are all part of my fond nostalgia for the WCHA. I’m a little too young for the 80s WCHA golden era.

You also forgot CC in the core teams.
