Space Exploration II: Always Looking up

Hey, I liked the American Space Pickup Truck! 😂 Just like all things American, it was over-hyped and under-produced results. But damn if the Shuttle wasn't reliable

Interesting that it's rolling out so much before the launch. But I read they are doing a lot of testing on the pad. Almost as if they want to check everything they can do to prevent a launch failure. Like things are supposed to happen.

When can we sue SX for blowing all of our tax dollars to support Artemis blowing stuff up?

Artemis is coming up, and the number of pedo loving SX fanbois is really increasing on YT.

First they are going out of their way to compare this Artemis mission is worse than Apollo 8- including pointing out that there's no plan to quote the bible on this mission. Even though they all point out that the mission goals are different- so the different style of what they are doing is more about mission goals. All of them totally forget that landing on the moon by Dec 31 1969 was so important that doing things as fast as possible was the most important thing beyond keeping the astronauts alive. The video I watched even went out of it's way to criticize the trajectory that didn't require a boost to get back to the earth. Seriously? The missions ARE totally different. It's not worse, and there should not be a judgement of the mission quality.

And then another headline compared the Artemis launch to SX's program, that SX is so much cheaper. Forgetting that the sum total of all of the failed launches have added up way, way beyond the NASA program. Let alone that we are all paying for that since SX has not delivered the lunar lander, probably taking money from that to pay for this 100% failure rate system.

Why people are so keen on sucking off elmo is beyond me. He's had plenty of questionable people do that already, so there's no need for adults to pretend that he's some kind of smart person.

Some solid perspective of really why this isn't as good as it should be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yd_PrgsoMbQ

With real explanations. Not just comparisons.

What I wasn't aware of is that Artemis is already canceled after A3. If that even happens since there is no such lander.

Edit- later in the video, recent changes has "approved" up to A5. Who knows if that will stay, since NASA is so very political to rich people, since they don't want to be told that their money making scheme is really bad for all of us as a planet. Let alone that we've wasted so much money on SX for a lander that is pretty unrealistic in terms of being able to do the job. I don't see either SX or BO caring about real science that helps all of us vs. making money for them.

As bad and dumb as it may be, I cannot bring myself to root against any attempts by humans to reach the stars.

The only way humanity will ever be truly safe, and free, is to spread and leave the murder monkeys to rot in their vicious ignorance.

Get away, pull the ladder up behind us, and let the orcs kill each other for their McMansions and sky phantoms.

May I suggest that you do not learn about what Neil DeGrasse Tyson thinks about humans getting to Mars.

I'm well aware.

Maybe don't do planets at all. Maybe concentrate on self-sufficient space colonization on artificial platforms. Dictate the environment rather than trying to adapt it. The journey is more important than the destination.

It's a 1000-year arc to get to a 1000-year ark. Just keep moving in the correct direction and Francis Bacon will eventually get us there.

Is it similar to what these authors say: A City on Mars
Remarkable to me that you can make money (well, presumably somebody made some) selling a book stating something so obvious. I think I'll write the sequel, "Water is Wet." Should be a best seller.

I mean, seriously, us colonizing Mars would be like a homeowner deciding to move and build a house on a toxic waste dump on the side of an active arctic volcano just because he didn't like the color of his curtains. Maybe just change the friggin curtains on the beautiful, hospitable house you already have, numbnuts.

Don't know about the book and what it covers, but 1) the cost- at least one order of magnitude more, probably a lot more, than the moon 1b) and there's no real geopolitical reason to go. 2) the time it will take. 3) the Martian dirt is poisonous- so you can't eat the food that grows from it. 4) no way to have an atmosphere, and you are constantly bombarded with solar radiation

Basically, we will never go to Mars.
