Minnesota State 2024-25 Season: Together We Strand

Mavs with their first commitment out of the portal; forward Charlie Lurie from Omaha. 10 points in 20 games last season. Originally from Minnetonka, two years of eligibility left.

Eli Pulver to the portal. Not super surprising looking at another season mostly riding pine if Tracy is healthy. Assume they go shopping for a backup now?

Pulver to Wisconsin. Makes the October series in Madison even more interesting, as if it needed any help in that aspect.

I'd bet they both do. The teams that can stright up buy someone still aren't going hard after the 20 year old freshman. Combine that with shrinking rosters. Losing Eisele isn't ideal, but it doesn't turn them into a farm team. If that were the case, Murr would have been gone after his freshman year (ie Pohlkamp) and Ashton would have moved on after this year. Going to lose a player here and there, just have to trust the coaching staff to have a plan B, C, D etc.
Hope you're right but I have my doubts especially Kraft. I'd be SHOCKED he makes it here.
Im almost 100% neither those will make it. U of M, ND will poach em

And sadly there is nothing we can do

Well we lost both Pritchard and Kernan.... No longer committed
It's unfortunate, but onward and upward I guess. Gophers are almost always get who they want, which makes their title drought all the more hilarious, just hope Kraft is the exception to the rule. Hard to say if this is worse, or if they have a good freshman year and then bounce. Hopefully the staff has time to hit the CHL for a forward or two for next year.

Side note, another portal acquisition. Jack Smith from Duluth. 26 points over three seasons. Fourth round draft pick in the 2020 draft.

It's all about the $$ now. A big name school like Alabama could honestly go D1, get a good coach, spend enough to be a title contender in a few years

Little recruiting positivity to balance things out a bit; Liam Hupka had two goals on two shots and added an assist in Sioux City's 7-0 win last night. He should slot right in and make an already great group of returning defensemen even better. Was the captain of the Musketeers this year and is a finalist for the new Gaudreau Award that recognizes a "player who best embodies the traits of excellence on the ice, spirit of the game, care and responsibility"

NCHC dropped their conference schedule and some schools included nonconference games. Omaha didn't, but Miami heads to RPI October 10/11, and since the Engineers are the Mavs one nonconference home series next year I'd venture to guess we start at home vs them and then head to Omaha and Wisco the next two weekends.

If a portal player remains unclaimed, what options does he have? Also, for a team that adds portal transfers, does that reduce the number of incoming freshmen recruits they can bring in? Help me out here, I'm not sure how all this works...
