2024-25: D3whky

I’m just rooting against Middlebury because they cooked the books attendance-wise and said there were 2400 PEOPLE AT THEIR GAME TODAY. I watched it and it wasn’t even close to full. I think it’s supposed to be 240.
I can think of better reasons to hate on Middlebury. Just saying...

Going to a UW school is like rewarding yourself an 8-12k scholarship! With the exception of Madison, LOL
Yeah, that recipricol agreement is great. My niece from White Bear Lake went to Stevens Point. My brother was very happy with that recipricol agreement.

Midd-Amh games are frequently close low scoring affairs. The first goal will be huge. The defenses can block shots and the goalies are top notch.

D3HN is reporting that Augsburg and Amherst will receive the men's and women's home locker rooms as the top seed. Also means Augsburg will get the home bench against host UWRF

With all due respect to Joe, the university’s ridiculous $10K a year Tuition is helping him big time. Even with private schools giving way more financial aid, the big hockey programs in the MIAC charge $50-70K.

It’s not even close. He also puts the clamps on HS girls in MN. He has a full class by the end of their junior years. So they have to commit even if they’re not ready, or he’s moving on.

He’s done the same thing for 20 years and it’s working as good as ever.

23/25 from last years championship team were from Minnesota.
With all due respect, cost of attendance is FAR from the reason RF is a powerhouse lol.

Avg cost of attendance after aid:

River falls- 15k
uw- stevens point- 15k
uw- superior- 12k
uw- ec- 14k
amherst- 20k
middlebury- 31k
Endicott College- 40k
Wilkes- 35k

Augsburg- 24k
Hamline- 20k
Olaf- 22k
Gustavus- 29k
Marys- 25k
Kates- 19k

Adrian- 25k
Debuque- 22k
elmira- 28k
st. norbert's - 55k

There's many factors that make UWRF a very good program beyond cost, but don't sell the money short. A great program and university at a cost of 10K less than the average MIAC school adds up quickly, especially with the continuous increase of school cost. With years of being very competitive, good coaches, and newer facilities cost is the icing on the cake. Essentially it's like landing a 30-40k scholarship.....hard to argue with that.

As stated cost isn't everything and it depends on the college experience that is sought by the student. For example you couldn't get much different between the UWRF and Augsburg campus's, location, and demographics. UWRF is still a heavy agriculture/education school that pulls from rural areas, and you can't get any more inner city than Augsburg. Both have very competitive programs and do things their own way.

Getting back to the money, I think it's a shame that schools aren't more up front with cost. It's hard to get accurate information until you receive an actual financial aid offer especially from a private school. Those typically come in after a kid is pressured into making a decision. Reason I bring it up, the numbers you provided for some of the schools are not even close to what we just experienced. Saint Mary's came in the least at 25K, Hamline, Gustavus, Augsburg were all around 27-30K after aid, and UWRF came in at 20K.

Lot of good points, my point was that poster seemed to be selling the success of RF very short. LOTS of ways to make that cost change. 15k to live in RF might sound awesome to player A, but 25k to live downtown saint paul and play at Hamline may sound better to player B. or you might have player C that is so good at school it isn't going to cost her a dime no matter where she goes.

Couple big names in the portal:

-Tia Lascelle is the big ticket item from Adrian. Very accomplished, and an All-American candidate in her junior season, tallying 33 points
-Dubuque's goalie, Savannah Wuitschick performed well given what she was up against nightly. (Eau Claire and Gustavus bidding war? LOL)
-Olivia Lindberg was tied for the leading scorer at NEC
-Laney Harrold was one of the best defenders for Buff State as a freshman
-Kianna Salliant was a decent scoring option for an upstart Arcadia program
-Sophomore Nicole Pietrucha showed a lot of promise on Adrian's blueline and is probably looking for some top line minutes
-Grace Joselyn wasn't a big scorer but one of Norwich's best defensive players as a sophomore
-Anneliese Klein has had a strong start to her career from Nichols, potting 8 goals from the blueline this past season
-Jordan Hancock had a decent campaign for Utica as a freshman, scoring 7 goals

Where is this portal you're looking at? Can any of us access it? Are there separate portals for D1 and D3 or is it all in one?

The editors of Gopherpucklive.com have visibility into the portal somehow and they've published the players in the portal for all 4 leagues (D1 men, D1 women, DIII men, DIII women)

All American teams are out:

Pretty drastic shift: as the East now was given 20 All-Americans, with the West getting just 12. I’m shocked to see Emily Cronkite on the list, as this was her worst year at Augsburg statistically by quite a bit. I know they’re some Plattsburgh and Gustie alumni who are not happy to see her win given the amount of major snubs they’ve gotten the last few years.

For those wondering about stats:

By School:
UW-River Falls-4
Augsburg-3
Amherst-3
Adrian-3
Oswego-2
Utica-2
Nazareth-2
Gustavus-1
Middlebury-1
Endicott-1
Elmira-1
Plattsburgh-1
Colby-1
Connecticut College-1
St. Norbert’s-1
Lebanon Valley-1
Norwich-1
Alvernia-1
Arcadia-1
William Smith-1

By Home State:
MN-8
MA-8
IL-4
MI-3
CA-2
NY-2
MO-1
AK-1
NJ-1
PA-1
NH-1

My 2nd gripe is that Third Team East had two goalies and Chloe Lewis had a better year than both. She had one of the lowest GAA in DIII and no honors at all conference or AHCA and its bs
