Are the cis okay?
I'm surprised they didn't give us 20 billion shares in Enron stock and memberships to Columbia Music, where you could get 15 cassette tapes for a penny.

I heard to even get the next stimulus, we have to sell World's Finest Chocolate bars.
Those bars rock! If we have to sell magazines though I'm out!!
So glad the Republicans could strain themselves to give me a check that won't cover half my rent...
You: Good evening sir, my name is Steve. I used to be addicted to crack, but now I'm off and am trying to stay clean.
I've heard of servers saying various customers giving them a ridiculously low tip (like 25 cents) instead of not tipping at all. My stepfather boasts of doing this often. It's meant to send a message to the server of how little the customer thinks of them.
This $600 is a message.
For my family, we absolutely need the $1,200, or whatever it might be. I won’t admit to knowing all the particulars, but this one sounds more means-tested for the full amount than the CARES Act wash and obviously half or more of the amount.
That said, the Democratic leadership played their hand, and lost. Trump and his WH offered $1.8 billion in early October, when Pelosi/Schumer were hoping, like most of us on here, that the polls were right about the election, and potentially even the margin of error in our favor (Dem landslide). That would have produced far more power and leverage for Democratic leadership than they had then, and obviously more than they have now.
We were wrong. They were too. The poll aggregate sites missed, but only within the margin of error, which is perfectly acceptable, meaning the aggregate poll sites were right. Biden won the battle, but the GOP won the war. Gaining in the US House, potentially holding the Senate, and maintaining or gaining in key state houses, like turning ‘blue’ New Hampshire into a GOP trifecta at the state level, are certainly not overall wins for Democrats.
THAT said, I hope we somehow manage to pull off a couple wins in the Ga Senate Seats to at least have a nominal trifecta in Washington. Nominal trifecta > Mitch McConnell.
tl;dr Dems lost leverage, sucks it happened.
The second stimulus package started getting discussed when, within about a week of the rollout of the first package? The $600 figure was already getting kicked around last summer.
I came onto this Board and said the smart play would be to take the money. Unlike a union contract where reaching an agreement means you can't come back and renegotiate for a couple of years, or reaching a settlement in your insurance claim, taking the second package when offered in no way restricted anyone from coming back the next day and demanding a third round.
But, of course, my suggestion was met with universal derision here. So what happened? The D's let everyone sit on a food line for four months, then took the same deal, and now the third stimulus package likely doesn't hit until sometime in the middle of 2021.
But I'm sure our own Dean of Negotiations will be along shortly to explain the brilliance of that move.
The Dems needed to take the deal cause you can't negotiate with terrorists and that's what the GOP is right now. When you're willing to watch everyone suffer, die from Covid, and lock children in cages you are willing to do NOTHING. And as long as you're willing to walk away you always will get the best deal.
No, the problem is that people treated this like they were negotiating a one time deal.
One group says money should be used for stimulus. One group says no. If the group that says no then says, ok we'll give you a $1, and taking the $1 doesn't keep you from demanding more, take the $1. You're an idiot not to, unless you think there is some political benefit to be gained by it. Then, the next day demand that they give you another $1.

Company just informed our union that that fat ****ing orangatan is going to veto the stimulus...
