I don't understand why every American high school graduate looking to go to a university doesn't go to Europe, where it's free in a majority of countries.

Just means test loan forgiveness. If mommy and daddy have enough money to pay your loans then make them pay them. If not, then we'll pay them.

College tuition is too expensive. I don't think of anyone outside of college administrators disputes that.

Loan forgiveness doesn't address that problem. In fact, it will probably exacerbate it, if anything. It won't change the cost of college. How likely do you think it'll be that anyone who takes out a loan starting the day after forgiveness will ever pay back a nickel?

Make college free, then come to talk to me about forgiving the loans of those who have already had to pay the overpriced tuition.

If some frat boy type who basically went to college to party flunks out or gets kicked out due to behavior or something, I don't want their loans forgiven. There could be a few rare cases where someone legit put forth the effort and still flunked out. I would be ok with some level of forgiveness there too I think. But would need to be case-by-case basis.

Not for Americans, it's not. My wife went to Oxford for grad school, and her tuition was >10x of what UK citizens paid. During the time we lived there, there was a student uprising in London because they were raising tuition in UK public colleges to something like $3000 per year.

Which is why I said "a majority of countries."

Personal experience shows that a university degree from an accredited school in Western mainland Europe costs $250 a semester, including books. Lodging and food is of course extra, but there is also the opportunity to work as a student.

Pundits are now saying the House Dems will not accept the bipartisan deal if there is no Reconciliation deal later. She might have completely blown the whole thing up in her quest to not get re-elected. Honestly one of us should move there and run for Senate as a Dem we would trounce her. Her polling is putrid.
