And I think the rush has more to do with what they are seeing in Israel...which shows some evidence of massive waning immunity. As with all info out of Israel though the results and how they are being interpreted are a bit suspect.

What is taking the FDA so long on the under 12s?

I think the core problem here is how far we have dismantled government. The 60 Minutes piece from Sunday clearly showed what a fucking clown show the CDC is at the time Covid hit. I really think electing Dump did a lot to destroy the country. We were already behind and they wouldn't let Obama really do anything. They'll do the same to Biden but at least the decisions at the top are being made now.

This is what has been driving me nuts. Our kid isn't even in the next group, which I believe is 5-12. I stupidly believed the hopeful timeline of him getting it late this summer or early fall. Obviously isn't happening.

Silver lining I'm choosing to focus on: We haven't had the same level of disappointment of having to get back into masking and distancing many do, as we never really stopped because of the kid.

I thought the booster was specifically for "at risk" people. Immune compromised. I don't think anyone has said otherwise at this point.

It was on the news this morning that they're now discussing booster shots for everyone and it should be eight months from your second shot.

Swansong - have flu shots even come out yet?

I think Scooby nailed it. The GOP dismantled everything so badly we are hamstrung. Pathetic...

Scarlet is right the talk is about giving everyone a booster. The idea seems to be that since children arent approved and those unvaxxed will stay that way the next best step is to prevent breakthrough.

Great. Just fucking great.

I have no problem getting a booster. I just don't want to go through the aggravation to get an appointment for it like I did for the initial shot.

Hopefully they set it up with the flu shot. I wonder if it would be safe to get both at the same sitting? That would be nice.

I doubt that would be an issue. I would think the booster would be available almost immediately we have the access to vaccine unlike 6 months ago.

Given the surplus, yea. Although, I honestly hope that many of the current "extras" due to ani-vaxxors is going to other countries. It's been alluded to before here- but there are plenty of people in the world who want a vaccine, so let them have the ones that are not being used.

Pretty sure no data has been submitted on the under 12s yet, so unless you want the FDA to just approve it blindly they aren't taking long (yet.) Pfizer has said they expect to submit their trial data in September.

The FDA added to the existing EUA that those "high risk" folks should get a booster very soon. Then, yesterday, leaked rumors popped up everywhere that Biden would formally recommend, sometime later this week, that all eligible people get a booster 8-12 months after being fully vaccinated. I'm responding to this rumor.

sort of. CVS and the like have them but doctor's offices mostly do not. I suspect CVS is using last year's supply because the CDC hasn't released the yearly information yet. That typically comes out late august/early september.

We're prepping for that. For you specifically, we are looking into open scheduling (go onto MyChart and just pick a time to get vaccinated) for flu this season.

Are you anti vax? How dare you question the science and the experts.

Pfizer loves you. And just in case dose three isn’t enough they will fast track a Delta booster in 100 days.

The fall/winter is going to be chaos in the “media.” New variant to be hyped up and play off of a good portion of the country entering their routine seasonal respiratory illness period.

For those that are under 65 and healthy or even relatively healthy could you imagine getting 4 boosters shots in one calendar year for what equates to a cold for your risk group and a 99.9950 survival rate?

Science alright, #VoodooScience

This isn't just dumb, it's incoherent. You've disappeared so far up your own butt we can't even hear you anymore, you are intestinally muffled.

DGF will know best, but I think the basic 5-12 YO EUA is going to be far more difficult to get than booster approval because they were starting from scratch, meaning it's no different than when the Phase 1 trials were started for the "normal" population" back in 2020. Then they need to get enough volunteers. Then they need to wait for enough kids to get sick on the placebo to meet the numbers to get meet the necessary confidence thresholds. This is difficult because until now, kids seemed to show less symptomatic infections so perhaps they needed to do more active monitoring instead of self-reporting illnesses. They also need to go back and review the safety #s.

This all takes time. I suspect the 3rd dose testing is being done faster because it's already approved and we're starting to see the impact from loss of antibodies in countries like Israel. Again, you still have that secondary line of immune response (memory) but the frontline response seems to wane at around 6-9 months. Why 8? Maybe that's the biden admin trying to get out ahead of this. I have no idea.

I could walk circles around you all day.

Get your spike protein booster then get back in your basement and wait for the next one. Stay hysterical for as long as possible.

But shouldnt that process have started months ago? (like when it got approved for all other ages) I mean they knew school was coming and anyone with a brain knew half the states would not let schools mandate masks. Shouldnt they have been shooting for a timeline that matched up? Just seems off but I am obviously just a random dude with no expertise.
