Re: Detroit Tigers, Volume 1 - The Lou Whitaker version
So I'll be at the game tomorrow afternoon, somewhere in the upper deck. I don't have the tickets, so I don't know which section. On the shots of the outfield, I don't see where they've put anything resembling a statue behind where they've painted his number. Be prepared for a rant if there isn't one.

Leyland is going to get a couple games for tonight's rant. He was wrong as hell, but it was worth it.
And the Tigers continue to not treat Sparky right, even when they do honor him. There is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for not giving him a statue in right-center above his number, just like the other 6 numbers retired. This whole thing looks like it was thrown together about 2 weeks ago. The ceremony was nice, but that wasn't right. If you're going to give Willie Horton a statue (which I have no objection to whatsoever), you **** sure should give your HOF manager one as well.

Dear Ricky Porcello:
We are fully cognizant that the calendar indicates that July 4 is near. Fireworks are a nice part of this time of the year. However, the pitching mound at Comerica Park is not an acceptable location to launch such fireworks. We have plenty of other options elsewhere.

Dear Mr. Schlereth:
We realize that from time to time you may experience difficulties locating the general vicinity of home plate. In the event that this occurs with a runner on 2nd base, we do recommend that you do cover the plate upon commencement of launching such balls toward the backstop.

This week in MLB: Teams with bankrupt ownership beat the hell out of the AL Central.
