True. It was definitely one of those where you want a quick whistle if it's your goalie and a slow whistle if it's your forward. Net definitely wasn't off though.

Why would Washington's announcers pick their player of the game with overtime still underway?

I've seen the Bruins do play of the game in the 2nd period...my guess is the agreement with whoever is sponsoring it.

Haven't followed the Ducks at all this year, but just checked the box score from last night and see they featured a lineup with:

                  Brad Winchester
                  Jarkko Ruutu
                  George Parros
                  Sheldon Brookbank

Rangers played alright, but they miss Callahan. He would've made a difference last night. Unless they get Hank some help, it's not going to last past 5 games.

Listening to WAAF this morning on my way back from a test and the host was reminding Bruins fans to be classier than Habs fans: don't throw stuff, don't call 911, etc. Not sure if it was in jest or not, but the series could get interesting.

Yeah, Howard was pretty darn solid when he had to be; on the whole, Detroit's team defense is average at best. Lidstrom is at a point in the twilight of his career where he's still pretty good, but no longer godlike enough to offset the mistakes of two other players.

This whole series is going to be about getting pucks by Bryzgalov early and often, since his play is likely going to be the deciding factor in whether this series is over in 5 games, or goes the full 7.

On the subject of nostalgia, Bruins-Canadiens in the playoffs makes me think of:

Don't get me wrong - I'm not complaining about being able to see the game in Virginia in HD.
