OK - now TSN is saying Penner to LA for 1st, and 3rd round pick, along with Colton Teubert

How is Dustin Penner still worth that much?

Edmonton had the power in that move, and they weren't budging from wanting that much for him.

A little surprised there wasn't more activity within the last 20 minutes. The last few trades I've kept tabs on had some activity before the 3pm deadline. Penner was the "big" one, and that was with 40 minutes still to go.

Toronto trades John Mitchell to the Rangers, the first deal after the 3pm deadline.

Didn't realize that Dustin Penner was married to Richard Zednik's ex-wife. Sloppy seconds indeed.

Leafs apparently get a 7th rounder in 12 and a bag of pucks

AHL Clear Day is March 7th (generally one week after the NHL Trade Deadline). It's the AHL's answer to the NHL trade deadline. Players can still be "traded" or loaned to other AHL clubs.

Not saying that this wasn't one of those "completed before 3pm" deals, but just saying that the option of moving minor leaguers still exists.

*edit* and indeed it is one of those completed by 3pm deals. The added info is still valid though.

Looks like Arnott is headed to the Caps. From the NHL.com's trade blog: "TSN's Bob McKenzie is reporting Jason Arnott has waived his no-trade clause to go to the Washington Capitals for David Steckel. Also, the Dallas Stars announced Brad Richards is staying put."

Woohoo! Glad to see the Thrashers really making a push for the post season!

They've given up: Eager, Sopel, Dawes (AHL), Modin, Valabik (AHL), Peverley, Bergfors, Rissmiller (AHL), MacIntyre (AHL)
for: Wheeler, Stuart, Maxwell (AHL), Dvorak, Festerling (AHL), and some draft picks.

                              Woo. Plan the parade tonight.

I wasn't expecting them to become the Red Wings overnight, but Jesus, could Dudley have tried a little bit? Best part:
                              Eager (Dudley), Sopel(Dudley), Dawes(Dudley), Modin(Dudley), Valabik(Waddell), Peverley(Waddell), Bergfors(Both/Part of Kovy trade), Rissmiller(Dudley), MacIntyre(Dudley)
Dudley continually b*tches to the media about how he needs to change this team, get away from the mistakes the prior GM made... and then he goes and dumps players he was instrumental in bringing in.

:headdesk: How the * does he get given a halo and wings and continues to let Don Waddell get railroaded out of town?

Atlanta is dumb. 3 years. 5.1 million for a player who has 5 points and wasnt even an everyday player for Boston.
