It's actually NESN's fault. They toyed with the opening and took out "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Fenway Park." That's why the Sox are 0-5.

The NESN crew has 12 hours to edit that line back in!

Updated stat: of the 85 teams that have started 0-5, only 2 have even made the postseason.

I'm actually still optimistic. Obviously, the great majority of those 85 teams didn't make the postseason because they were just terrible teams.

But it's not going to be easy if they fall much further behind. The Yankee teams that started slow and made the postseason did so because they played absolutely lights out for looong stretches of the season. That's not going to be easy to do this year, because the basement of the AL East is rising. The Yanks aren't getting any younger, and the Rays are going backwards, but the O's don't look like automatic wins anymore. And the Jays always seem to show up against the Red Sox.

Time for someone to show some leadership. It's not just that that they lost again, it was how they lost. Crawford seemed into into the game - making smart baserunning plays and swiping bags. But the team as a whole? Bleh. They looked uninterested. Probably didn't help that I was stuck with the zero-energy snoozefest that passes for Cleveland's broadcast.

5 game losing streaks are common in baseball. Its not the end of the world, but it would be lovely to get a win. Thursday starts a stretch of 6 straight days the Red Sox are on TV for me here in Michigan (thank you MLB Network and ESPN + Fox). They better pick it up or I'll be throwing stuff at my TV.

Where did he think he was going? No reason at all to round 2nd like that, when you are the tying run with two outs. Id like to see a better replay though...it looked like he was safe before the tag...but who cares at this point.

Head up, look at the base coach. The only reason not to have your head up is to dig for 2nd and slide, which clearly was not the case. Anyone in Triple-A with marginal hitting skills and speed that can replace Darnell?

Also around the bag was the SS and 2B. I have no clue what he was thinking even taking two steps off that bag.
