I thought about him playing the other day, with his "what, me worry?" attitude, he may be exactly what they need. Varitek is the closest they have to a calm elder statesman. A lot of the other guys are high motor, high word count and those guys usually show their emotions. If they are suddenly quiet then it worries people, if they try too hard to be 'their normal self' then it worries people. They need the Mike Schmidt, Dave Winfield, Rhyne Sandberg type who has been around, seen everything and is capable of calmly going out and getting 3 hits when everybody else is squeezing the handle so hard they are making toothpicks.

If Drew plays in Balmore, i won't be surprised if he goes 8-12,

or 0-12.

Either way, you won't be able to tell.

Actually, couldn't (shouldn't?) it only be one? Because if TB beats the Yanks and the Sox lose, they'll be up a game. No way they beat the Rays in a one-game playoff in this free fall if they win the last game against Baltimore.

I'm well aware of that. But the chatter in the Red Sox thread is about how the Yankees are beating the Rays. Who gives a flying **** about that game if the Red Sox can't take care of business on their end?
