Chase Utley just channeled his inner Steve Sax.

I listened to three seconds of one sample, saw the stars, and went upstairs to puke.

Did it seem to anyone else like ThanksDad (or maybe ThanksGrandad is more appropriate) Carey wasn't familiar with the first-base-is-occupied third strike rule with fewer than two outs? He seemed befuddled and Buck Martinez had to explain it to the audience. Obviously the guy has to know the rule -- did it just not occur to him? Either way, he sounded like an idiot.

The Dodgers-Phillies series is interesting; I'll watch the later games. I'd like to see a series with the Yankees against either of them on the "older teams > newer teams" principle. The DS all worked out splendidly except for LA-Boston.

I'm with you. If it's Phils-Yanks, I'm done watching baseball til the Mets go back to the WS.

Yes, I'm aware that that will probably be awhile.

What is truly remarkable about the Rockies season is they did it without Jeff Francis and Corpas. These are two major pieces of the puzzle. Picking up Giambi was a major stroke of genius as well. The Rockies are a great organization and are the model for all mid-market franchises in MLB.
I won't say too much about the calls. There were some that made me absolutely crazy, but the Rockies lack of clutch hitting (and lack of clutch pitching a few times) drove me even more nuts.

I agree about the way this franchise is run. So much of this team is made up of home grown talent, and the organization is very deep at most positions. The Rockies tried a few high priced free agents in the past and it just didn't work. They were very smart under Dan O'Dowd to rebuild in the fashion they have, because I believe this formula could work for them for a long time to come.

Expectations will be high next year with most of this team likely returning, along with Jeff Francis and Manny Corpas. I have to be honest in saying that it feels a bit strange as a Rockies fan to have such high expectations.

Anyway, congrats to you, gounhwildcats, and obviously to the Phillies, who definitely earned this. That is one hell of a team, maybe even better than last year. I hope they destroy the Dodgers.

I'm not sure I was talking about how they were constructed, but in how they match up on the field. But I would disagree with you on your point regardless.
