Reportedly, Crawford to Boston, 7 years, $142M.

But yeah, keep telling yourselves you're somehow different from the Yankees.

Don't be cranky that the more money the Mets spend, the worse they get

But yeah, no Sox fans should get on the Yankees for spending anymore

So half a billion dollars over the past decade != any difference?

As a lifelong Mets fan I can state that no smiley was required for that post.

While the rest of us just hate both teams with a passion.

$40-something million in annual salary comes off the Red Sox payroll going into next season. The Red Sox sign Gonzales and Crawford. The per-year cost is probably not much more than inflation.

People were okay with the Red Sox pi**ing $40m down their leg. It's just when it's spent well that it's a problem.

Hating the Yankees or the Red Sox is like hating winter. It's structurally guaranteed to come -- there's no point getting bent about it.

Then again, rooting for them is like rooting for compound interest. Yeah, money makes money -- whoopee.

I'm a Sox fan who never did. They both spend way too much and they're both the reason there should be a salary cap in baseball.
