For religious FBS schools, so far I have Notre Dame, BC, SMU, TCU, BYU, Baylor, Northwestern, and Duke. That's more than enough, and I certainly may have missed some.

        Northwestern is a non-sectarian school.

Utah is Now in the PAC.

Not that big of a surprize now. Probably keeps the Mountain West on the Outside looking in when it comes to getting into the BCS club, but with all thats going on in the Big XII, I wouldn't be that surprized if they start making passes at Kansas and Kansas State, and maybe a few others of the former Big XII North. They kill off the Big XII, then they get their seat at the table.

And Duke really plays down their religious connection. Its borderline ceremonial at this point.

An aside completed unrelated today, but I was in Annapolis today and between the end of my appointment and my ride out of town I wandered across the street to the Navy Memorial Stadium. Never been there before, but its a beautiful (if small by FBS standards) facility with a monument park behind one end zone and the names of the battles the Navy and Marine Corps have been involved in scattered across the stadium. Awesome set up. I even ran into the head coach who mistook for a new graduate assistant but then took the time to chat about the stadium, the program, and his experience there. A far cry from the jack assery Weis, Saban, whoever coaches Oklahoma State, etc. have displayed. I'll be rooting for them this year.

I've never made it out to a Navy game, but I do know quite a few who have and they say it's a wonderful experience and a great change of pace from the rest of big-time college football. I hope to make it out to a game this season.

I still enjoy the Army/Navy game even though nothing's generally on the line. I'll never forget the pregame show a few years ago when the Navy quarterback was being interviewed. If you could order up a young man, this kid would be what you'd want for your son, buddy or your daughter's beau. Handsome, articulate, gifted athlete, great student and a kid with a huge sense of duty and honor. Anyway, they asked him what the final Army/Navy game of his career meant to him, and the young man just broke down. I don't mean choked up. I mean he was unable to answer the question. A lovely moment.

I was mistaken about Northwestern because they have a very prolific Graduate School of Theology for United Methodists on campus and used to be called the Fighting Methodists. You are correct that it is technically non-sectarian though.

                    non-sectarian?

John Evans founded Northwestern (which is located, after all, in Evanston).
Later he served as Lincoln's campaign manager and Lincoln made him territorial governor of Colorado. It was in that capacity that he also founded the University of Denver, which had a strong Methodist affiliation for many years. The Iliff School of Theology is still on campus, but the connection with the Methodists is largely historical (and possibly for tax advantages). For many years DU was known as the University of Denver, Colorado Seminary. And for many years the sports teams were known as "ministers." All of that is past now.

We went to Annapolis for Pitt/Navy a couple years ago and it was amazing. A great time all around.

For Basketball, we can add Marquette, right? Perhaps convince them to start a FB program?

Are there any FCS teams that are religious? If we start a "BIG GOD" conference, I'm sure donors will help them play up.

I'd be 99% of them are not properly accredited.
