    That or Vegas.
The Bay Area also has Candlestick, Oakland Colesium, and the new 49ers stadium whenever it actually gets built. Basically everywhere other than OU/OSU has a good one nearby.

If they had rivalry games they could get around it. Stanford-Cal, Cal-UCLA*, and UCLA-USC are the only pairings that anybody cares about.

Cant those schools just leave as well? If enough teams split with Texas you would think Texas would just go along too. I doubt they want to be left in a 6 team conf.

Ya, I was thinking break it into North/South:

              North:

              Washington
              Washington State
              Oregon
              Oregon State
              Colorado
              Utah

              South:

              USC
              UCLA
              Cal
              Stanford
              Arizona
              Arizona State

              Big Ten:

              East:

              Michigan
              Michigan State
              Penn State
              Ohio State
              Purdue
              Indiana

              West:

              Wisconsin
              Minnesota
              Iowa
              Nebraska
              Illinois
              Northwestern

              Two serious questions:

              1. Is the Big XII allowed to have a title game with 10 teams?
              2. Are these conferences going to change their names to reflect what they've become? Pac 12, Big Ten becoming Big 12, etc.

                1. No, not as the current NCAA rules are structured.
                2. Depends. Pac-12 makes sense, since they were the Pac-8 before, and no one else is going to 'steal' Pac-anything as a name. Big XII might need to find a completely new name, and the Big Ten is one of the most recognized brands around - I can't see them changing it at all. Hell, the Atlantic 10 conference has 15 members.

It seems unlikely that they would; from what I'm reading, one of the things driving the present outcome is that ESPN/ABC was willing to stick by the contract they signed when the contract had twelve teams, and that payout is now only being split ten ways. The time when things might start to get interesting is when we approach the expiry of the current deal, then it might be in the XII/X's interest to go back up to twelve if they can get teams in the right markets.

I say the Big 12 should rename itself the SWAC, in recognition of Texas taking over and dominating the remnants of the Big 8.

                          Not enough Texas.

Ideally, the league would just be called "Texas", but I suppose one has to at least recognize that there are other people in the league. The Texas Ten is a cromulent name.
