    Notre Dame cancelled their 2013 game at Yankee Stadium vs. Army. Take that for what it's worth (nothing)

      The Big XII was always about Texas since it was founded. I don't blame Nebraska for jumping ship one bit, that's a no brainer. I just didn't think the Big Ten would invite/accept them.

          Its a preemptive move that on its face does nothing but could be the first step to a massive change. Basically if they move this is step 1, if they dont it is just something they felt like changing

          You better start buying it...unless Texas has a change of heart and keeps the Big "12" alive they are headed west. 20 million makes it easy to ignore time change differences, ask Penn State. Texas is not coming here (no way Michigan and OSU will let them take away from their arrogance!) and I doubt they will move to the SEC

              The thing with Notre Dame is that unless they *want* to join a conference, it's a long and arduous process to "force" them.

              Setup a system where 4 16 team conferences have their champions play a "Final Four" for the national title? If you were annoyed with congress having hearings over the BCS, that setup will last about 8 seconds before some sort of challenge, and Notre Dame would probably be at the forefront with Utah, TCU, etc.

              Big East threatens to kick their other sports out if they don't join in football? The non-football catholics are unlikely to throw them under the bus like that.

              They might be convinced that they're not maximizing their profit by staying independent, but as long as they're in the black and on TV, are they going to mind?

                          Canadian schools are coming in as D-II. There are no play-ups in D-I football and basketball.

                                I am coming to realize that none of us here could run for political office as many of our posts could be used as campaign fodder.

                                Greed is good. D-I football and basketball are becoming more like a minor league than an co-curricular activity. The big 64 do not need the NCAA. The NCAA needs them.

                                The rest of D-1 is tagging along hoping for table scraps.
