  • Re: Nice Planet 2010

I'm proud to be from this state. Well, "proud to be from" in the sense of "proud to have had the brains to leave."
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

Someone start the countdown on when the creator of the bill will be found out to be what he's legislating against.

Totally lost on why this whole gay thing freaks people out. Are they that uneducated that they think kids can be 'turned' by listening to someone talk about something? Either you are born with the propensity or not. We have all this loud hysterical noise and in the backround a little voice from medical ressearch that says brains scans are different and the physiology is different. I wonder why no one pays any attention to that.

You're missing the point. As Anita Bryant said, it's all about: "refreshing their ranks."

I remember Anita Bryant as a name but the rest eludes me.

"Refreshing their ranks" is what she said gays are up to. You know, recruiters, pamphlets, TV and radiio spots, mall appearances, etc. You didn't miss much, except she was a figure of considerable and continuing controversy for several years. And as insightful as a bag of hair.

Yes, fix the loaded gun in the house. That's always a good idea.

It is a horrible accident, but when the gun is jammed, he couldn't help that it was loaded, and going into the house to use a workbench and tools makes sense. The biggest problem with this story is that this guy didn't obey the absolute #1 rule when it comes to firearms, make sure that the muzzle is ALWAYS pointed in a safe direction. If he was working on the gun and the muzzle was pointed at the floor, this story doesn't happen. Guns jam, it happens, the key is to maintain all of the safety precautions that you'd normally use when attempting to fix the thing.

This is what happens to children who are playing with guns. They get down real close as they're examining the thing. Frequently two kids, sitting close togther. When it goes off, you're dealing with head shots that either kill or cause brain damage and leave horrific facial damage.

Except this was a father and a child. It should never happen when the adult is handling the gun. (of course it should never happen when a child is handling a gun either, because the child shouldn't be handling the gun unless they're old enough to understand the consequences)

And ALL guns are ALWAYS loaded (assumed to be) and kept pointed in a safe direction at all times.
