A matter of precedence? You must not have followed federal spending practices since, oh, at least JFK's years? So Robert Byrd's 50+ years of WV pork barrel and all the other pork barrel that has gone out for decades and decades isn't precedent, and that isn't even for meaningful federal responsibilities the way controlling your border is. The irony is, on most pork-barrel assessments, the AZ delegation is at or near the best ranking for not taking pork barrel. I guess they just should have sidled up to the trough over the years the way Byrd and company have, and we could have our own wall and all. I'm sorry, but that's a woeful argument, no other way of cutting it.

Big deal...nobody likes pork barrel spending. But the difference is that I don't want to give states the ability to force pork barrel spending back on the federal government. If Arizona wants to go outside of federal channels to inact laws...then it better be prepared to pay for them.

Ok. I really tried to hold off on this, but again I'm going to call you out on this specious argument. To claim that a little more money for AZ border control (as has already been given to California, NM, and Texas for many years by the way) matters on the federal budget level is simply ridiculous.

After winning approval for $700 million to help improve the long waits at border ports of entry last month from the U.S. House of Representatives, the Senate has slashed it.

Under the House-approved plan, $208.4 million would have been spent on 1,200 additional Border Patrol agents and $136 million for 500 additional U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers.

After winning approval for $700 million to help improve the long waits at border ports of entry last month from the U.S. House of Representatives, the Senate has slashed it.

U.S. Rep. Raúl Grijalva, D-Ariz., was instrumental in getting the funding added to the House version. Both of Arizona’s senators, John McCain and Jon Kyl, voted to cut the funding.

A blow to socialism.

Border ports... they're for the passing and inspection of trucks and cargo not for the stopping of illegals.

Your basic argument is "you're cool with X... lets double down on the costs of X on Y... hell, I say double... 20-fold should do it".

Border ports... they're for the passing and inspection of trucks and cargo not for the stopping of illegals.

Oh ya...that wouldn't be additional resources to deal with illegal border crossings. Entirely different.

You could never imagine that more resources applied to border checkpoints would help with an illegals problem now would you. And there's no liklihood that additional resources could allow for diversion of resources to other problem spots.

So you officially would rather have no additional funds applied to defending our borders...hasn't this been like the most important issue in your life for the last couple of years?
