False. The lead-off hitter, while his primary goal is to get on base, has the secondary goal of taking long at-bats to show the rest of the lineup what they're going to face. The twins broadcasters finally caught onto this this year.

Again, to use a stock analogy, delmon's IPO was much lower than Span's coming into the year. So yes, it does affect his stock for this year.

After the first at bat the "take a lot of pitches" thing is BS. It is EVERYONES job to have long at bats.

        Are you really Dick Bremer?

Although, I reserve the right to bring it back if you ever say anything like "Jason Kubel is the most dangerous lefthanded hitter in baseball no one knows"

Ok, you know what? I said galactic before. Saying kubel is the most dangerous is a universe apart from saying span is better than delmon haha

What if it's the bottom of the 9th, tie game, there's only one out, and you hit a deep fly ball to right field with a runner on 3rd who scores on the tag?

Yes, I know what point you're trying to make.

He had a quality start (3 runs or less in 6 innings; yes I think that's a joke standard).

                    Short bullpen.

Pitchcount was low? (Dunno, wasn't paying that close of attention)

Liriano and Moon Shot had bad starts in their games, but the end result was decent, in their pitching stats. Same with Blackie.

It might be that he had completely shut them down and only had 85 pitches.

He had at least 3 innings where he struggled. Why not bring in Rauch to seal the deal? So he could make Blackie feel good?

If he thinks Blackie could seal it, while giving the bullpen the day off, wouldn't you?

Only six guys out there. I am thinking he will take any chance he can get to give them a day off. It's a long season.

His pitch count was so low there was no reason NOT to let him pitch. We sit there and whine about how pitchers cant go the distance, well he was in a perfect position to do so and he did. If he puts people on you put in Rausch but otherwise let him close it out.
