Another box that is still the most amazing game I have ever been to. It was around 10:00 p.m. when Browning threw the first pitch, following a nearly 2 1/2 hour rain delay. There were perhaps 9000 of the listed attendance of 16,500 still there at the start and after 3 innings perhaps another 1000 or so of those people were gone. Tim Belcher had pitched 5 innings of no-hit ball that night as well for LA, eventually losing the game on an unearned run.

Not so much the box score itself, but the fact that the game was supposed to be the christening of a shiny new arena. Now history will forever show that the first ever game played inside the pride of the city was won by its most hated rival.

From what I understand, the only thing anyone who wasn't there missed was Craig Kowalski spreading his legs to scratch at his crabs one too many times.

One of my personal favourites for many reasons. One, this game really turned the season around for the Phils. Two they beat the Mets. Three they were down 7-0 to the Mets and came back and won. Four they beat the Mets.
