Why must it be more than policy disagreements, you were and are livid about Bush, you hate him, why can't others hate Obama based on what they've seen and heard. I don't doubt people hate cause he's black, its not all their is to this though.

Because if it were about policy disagreements, you would think they'd have at least some inkling of the content of the policy with which they disagree.


But they don't. They just know he's a fascist, or a communist, or a socialist, who's destroying the Constitution and the country. And they just want their country back.

Are they aware that the largest two-year tax cut in U.S. history — $282 billion — was enacted as part of Obama’s stimulus package.

ATLANTA – Former President Jimmy Carter says Congressman Joe Wilson's outburst to President Barack Obama last week was an act "based on racism." Carter called Wilson's comment "dastardly" and part of an "inherent feeling" held by some in this country who feel that a black man should not be president.

The South Carolina Republican lawmaker was formally rebuked Tuesday in a House vote divided by party lines. Wilson shouted "You lie!" during Obama's speech to Congress last Wednesday.

Carter spoke Tuesday night at a town hall held at his presidential center in Atlanta.

A spokesman for Wilson was not immediately available for comment.

But a former leader of the South Carolina Democratic party disagreed with Carter. Dick Harpootlian says Wilson's comment was asinine, but not racist.

I'm not necessarily thrilled with this news either, but at least all three of those provisions are enacted within the framework of our laws, requiring court orders and warrants, and not outside them as Bush's wiretapping program has been shown to have been.

You mean that video clip wasn't cherry picked to pick out the least intelligent sounding teabaggers they could find? And it wasn't produced by a left leaning blogger?

Regardless of how well or how poorly they express it, most of them just think the government is intruding too much into their lives and has lost all fiscal responsibility. And I don't think they're too happy with the Reps either. But since Obama and the Dems are in charge, they're obviously going to take most of the heat.

Regarding anti-Obama protesters and racism:

Obviously not everybody protesting Obama is a racist. My feeling is that a lot of frustration on the right would be directed at *any* Dem President, even if he followed the exact same policies of a Republican predecessor. IMHO, this is because the backbone of GOP support, those in their 50s to 70
s never expected to be this far out of power in their lifetimes, having gone through the now deified "Reagan era". This accounted for the anti-Clinton vitriol, and accounts for a lot of the anti-Obama stuff. Really, what normal person has time to leave work, travel to DC for a vague protest against.....what exactly, all because a talk show host told them too? A BIG difference between now and the early 90's is the state of the Republican party. To put it simply, they desperately need supporters. Back in the 90's Yankee Republicans still existed and guys like Dole, Rudman, Hatfield, etc were the party veterans in positions of leadership. All that's gone, and there's few people left to put the brakes on the party's coddling of the more extreme elements of the base.

I'd say about 1 in 4 of anti-Obama people (which would equate to 10% of the country) doesn't like the guy mostly because he's black.

I'm not racist at all and I can't stand Obama. Every second he breathes he's destroying our country a little more. But it has nothing to do with the fact that he's black. I could care less. He could be Kelly Green and Pink and I would still not like him. Before you jump on me and ask me how many black friends I have, I'll tell you. Not many. In fact, I can count them on one hand. But I could count my white friends on the other hand.
