  • Official 2010 WCHA Final Five Thread

Given that it's now less than a month away, and some non-WCHAers are making the trip, I figured I'd start this off.

Who's in? Who's not? Is the MTU band going to make an appearance, even if the team won't be there (as in years past)?

I'm assuming THE tailgate will be at the same location as last year, but awaiting confirmation, and will post info as I find out about it. And by "THE tailgate," I mean the GopherPuckLive/best tailgate gathering.

The usual meeting place before games/between periods/after games should remain the same: Gate 3, IIRC: http://www.xcelenergycenter.com/arena/Seating.jsp

Those interested in meeting up show up for a group picture or two, meet some new people, etc.

Bars of choice include Tom Reid's, McGovern's, and The Liffey (the latter two being Irish-oriented), and are easily within walking distance of the arena. I believe the group I will be with will be situating ourselves at Reid's. You can even order a full plate of bacon there (just ask MNS).

I will be there. Doy. I'm probably playing poker with you hunyucks the afternoon of the play-in game.

About that, we have 5 right now not including you (and assuming con/Almsy), and my thinking is that the poker be at your place this year, for space concerns. Even you have to admit, it gets a bit crowded here for that type of thing with 7-8 people (observers and such).

I have no problem with that. Gizmo won't be around, so I won't have to worry about you idiots harassing my Yorkie.

Thursday, March 18th. I think we usually start around 11am or so.

I'll be at all Friday/Saturday festivities.

I work Thursday, so just the play-in game for me that day.

If the Engineers break my heart again within the next two weeks, I'll be there.

That's mostly for the benefit of the people I already know.

We won't be leaving the UP until about Friday mid-morning our time (I have to work Thursday, Flashy can't miss his 9am Friday class) so we'll be there for the second game on Friday.

Not that I ever participate in the drunken stupidity revelry, but I may even miss the games this year. I've been invited to visit a plant Thursday and Friday which will include a Wild game at the Trashers in a suite on Thursday night. Torn.

                            I'll be there.

I'm going to be working all day Thursday, but I'll be heading down for the play-in game that night. Then I'm planning on taking vacation all day Friday (though, depending on what happens Thursday night, I may try to work Friday morning and save a 1/2 day) and going to both games/tailgate.

I really want to be up there for the Final Five. I have to be in Minnesota the Monday before the Final Five, but I have to drive back to Wisconsin that night.

If someone can get me tickets and a free place to stay, I might mysteriously come back to Minnesota with a few cases of New Glarus beer.
