Enjoyed rink-side seats last night as Brodeur recorded his 8th 40-win season as the Devils spanked Columbus 6-3. Also met Doc Emrick one night after he called his 3,000th game at the Joe.

Having now seen them in person twice in the last four days, this Phoenix team is incredibly organized, sneaky physical, defensively sound, and capitalizes on mistakes. I think they'll settle into the fourth seed in the West when all is said and done (unsustainable pace up/down recently for PHX/SJS, road-heavy schedule) and despite not having much of a home-ice advantage in the first round I think they'd beat LA, Nashville, or Colorado. You need to stay disciplined to beat them, and they'll drive an inexperienced team crazy.
That attendance phenomena is common here in the Valley of the Sun, with similar things happening at times at D-back games, Cardinal games, etc. A lot of us here in the Phoenix area have a mixture of rooting for our traditional teams from where we came from (Minnesota teams in my case) and then also some amount of loyalty to the local Phoenix teams.

I think that's a very good description of the Coyotes and how they play. Tippett is as good a coach as Gretzky was bad. But, when they get deep in the playoffs, it will get tough for them to beat teams with more talent and who play solid hockey.

They didn't sell out the opening game of the season?

I thought I remembered watching and the place was packed because they did a white out or something like that.

Agree with Bob on the description of the team. That's how i felt when I watched them. I like the additions they made at the deadline and I think those will help them into the second round. However, getting past that will be extremely tough unless Bryzy plays lights out.

Sorry, my mistake, they did pack the place on Opening Night. Although I recall they did some sort of promotion for really cheap seats all over the building that night, so maybe this was more of a "traditional" sell out?

And the Bruins signed Andrew Ferrence to a three year deal with a cap hit of $2.5 million per season. Nice work Chiarelli

Nice of the Bruins to set the market for mediocre sixth defensemen like that.

Just give up on this team... They have no chance of doing anything with the ownership and players. They lack serious talent. Glad they gave Thomas that big contract

That's a long straw if it's coming from Boston.

Big deal for Ference. Makes me worried about arbitration of all the other Dmen out there though...

Caps/Pens tonight should be a beaut. Can't wait
