I think you misunderstand. These are objective computer ratings, not human ratings. They take all of this into account.

Initially the Big Ten said no FCS teams and you need to have a P5 school every year. But when they went to 9 conference games they changed that so if you only had four conference home games you could schedule an FCS team. And now I have no idea if that rule is still in place with no divisions. Might still be since there is still a 5/4 home road split every year.

It’s not just bama that does that, the rest of the sec regularly schedules a Big Sky team. Not only that, the conference generally has their super soft non conference game with two games remaining on the schedule.

Basically, they schedule a bye right when they really need some time off.

I hope they follow up on the threat- DII schools would appreciate a big pay day, since that’s the only way to get softer than they already are.

And I know that Oregon played Idaho this year, but that was scheduled before Oregon joined the B1G. (The B1G doesn’t like their teams playing d1aa schools).

I don't think the big ten cares about FCS anymore. Half the teams played FCS schools this year.

Alabama is complaining about not making it into the Playoff, and it (along with other SEC schools) is threatening to downgrade its future non-conference schedule.

However, Alabama had a cake walk of a non-conference schedule this year. Alabama (and the SEC in general) has a notorious history of having a fairly easy non-conference lineup.

Therefore, Alabama's threat is comical.

Indiana vs Notre Dame is absolute madness. This is the first time I've thought the CFP was a good thing.

As a Hoosier fan, someone who has witnessed literally the worst power 5 program by a large margin (sorry, Vanderbilt) in 125 years, it’s absolute madness. I drove 26 hours roundtrip to Tempe, AZ, with my sister when Indiana made its first bowl game in something like 14 years in 2007. If I didn’t have two young kids, I’d be in South Bend on 12/20.

I'm getting a bit of a kick out of certain Alabama fans (including Nick Saban) throwing a fit about strength of schedule, and how this decision will change how teams schedule non-conference opponents.

Well, Alabama's non-conference schedule this season was:

Western Kentucky
South Florida
Wisconsin (5-7 this year)
Mercer (FCS)

Not exactly some murderer's row.

Alabama wasn't worn down by the game before Oklahoma. That was Mercer. You then got punched in the face and lost by 21 to a 6 loss team.
