No I get that. In Oakdale we had a burst where I had measured 4" of rain in an hour a couple years ago.

not a rainfall rate of 4"/hr (we've had that several times this year at our house) but an actual gauge that was confirmed by my neighbor's gauge as 4". Which is why I'm in such disbelief is that I can't believe that only an extra inch was a 1:1000 event for Florida of all places.

We had a downburst that didn't move for an hour. Torrential monsoon-like rain for an hour. My yard on a slight slope got flooded. The end of the street had standing water and storm sewers were backed up. I had erosion in the yard so bad it changed the flow of water in the yard. I have videos of a river flowing through my backyard.

    so yeah, I'm surprised.

      Doesn't look good.

That place is an emergency shelter too with 10k cots laid out on the field.

It’s a low lying coastal area, storms typically move through so fast that much rain doesn’t normally accumulate.

        • I thought they were using the Trop for staging power line crews?

My Mom in Law made it through it , 8 miles or so southeast of Tampa, pretty near where eye came ashore. No internet or power(she has a generator though) but phone still works. She was lucky. Doesn't know what outside looks like yet.

Reported this morning that the roof was specced for 115mph, and the winds got to about 101mph. Someone screwed up on the math.

This guy in NC will not accept any assistance from Fema and has lost everything. He tells his family on the phone he doesn't have any food or water. Son in law is beside himself because his father in law is so under the spell (in the cult) of Donald Trump that he will not accept any help.

Can they staple on a new roof in time for Opening Day?

                        • Saw a picture of a dumpster on someone’s roof. Yikes.

in the same thread, mayor was criticized for saying that the predicted storm surge would cover a house. Sad that it was exactly correct.
