    I think his beef with the Times was eye opening to a lot of people in his administration. I think Harris also woke him up to it and seeing how she gets covered by the media doesn't make them look any better. But she just keeps showing up, talking to people, doing the talk show circuit and doing the work.

    I think Biden and his team know if they want to win they need to do a Truman Style model. Ignore the pundits and polls and just go door to door and talk to the people. Funny how the polls in '48 never showed any gains for him (they all stopped polling long before ED because it was a "lock" according to the polls) yet he won rather handedly.

      The difference is that Dewey promptly conceded, and didn't scream that the election was fraudulent and rigged. He also didn't have more than half of his supporters believing that lie, and a not insignificant number of them ready to riot. Plus, Strom Thurmond is the Republican candidate playing for keeps this time, rather than a Dixiecrat trying to play spoiler.

              See, I would have sat there and told him to rejoin the commission, which we used for 40 years, if he wanted to debate so badly. Ball is in his court.

                No way he backs out...to do so would be seen as weakness. He would be mocked for fleeing debates against a zombie with Alzheimer's. Hard to be a strong man if you are scared of a skeleton with hair.

                No he will show and he will make sure his fat face is the only one people hear. he is going to try and run roughshod over the moderators and Biden and make it a full blown circus...and the media will eat it up and give him all the free press he craves. (since he cant afford to buy ads)

                Don't get me wrong, no one in his camp really wants him too (well the ones who actually have worked on campaigns) and they will do everything they can to constrain it and make it a chitshow...but no doubt he will be there unless for some weird reason he is in jail. He won't be (might be out on appeal ) and since he won't testify the debates will be his airing of grievances to the whole world.

                  I understand your point, I just don't agree. He'll make up some nonsense about fairness and cancel and blame Biden for changing the rules at the last second, or some other reason (that doesn't exist). Just like he was going to testify in the NY property case. Just like he's totes going to testify in the Stormy Daniels case.

                      No he was never going to do that and everyone knew it.

                      If he ducks the debates he loses by a worse margin than last time. His rallies are failing. He has to at least do the first one to make the claim you put forth. He will hem and haw, threaten and whine, but if he no shows it will be a disaster.

                          My favorite thing about this announcement so far has been that according to the MSM and RWNJ pundits, the debates will be a test for 82 year-old Biden. To say nothing of 78 year-old Chump's recent Jimmy Carter/Jimmy Connors aphasia at his not-so-yuuuuuge Jersey Shore rally, just to cite one example.

                          Oh, and apparently moving the first one up to June is supposedly to allow the Democrats to see if they need to swap out Joe at the convention, LMAO.

                            Trump has already made up a third debate on Fox News that was not part of the original agreement. Now when Biden doesn't go for that BS he has an excuse to weasel out of the other two.

                                You guys are giving Trump way too much credit. You sound like the people in 2020 who thought every stupid decision he made was some 4D chess move. There is no logic behind this, there is no thinking five moves ahead. He is not surrounded by people who think like that he jettisoned the "thinkers" a long time ago.
