This is what I don't get. So apparently the majority of people waiting in those lines voted for him? Looked like turnout was high, which should have favored her.

When the bad stuff starts happening to people (deportations, super high prices), I will just sit back and laugh at his supporters who will be affected.

Hearing people talk at work today, a lot of them are confident that the guardrails of democracy will keep things in check.

It’s not the economy. It’s grocery bills of dumb ****s who are too stupid to even know what an economy is.

Biden did a masterful job of propping up businesses to get to a legit soft landing from the COVID recovery, but there’s no way you can explain that on the campaign trail. In a world of educated voters, Biden/Harris would have won on the economy alone.

I agree with the beginning and the end, but not sure on the middle. Yeah they took an awful route getting to Harris, but once they got there it felt like the had a good candidate and good momentum going, and I don't know which other candidate would have done better; granted I can't predict what didn't occur so who knows there? If people were honestly this upset about inflation that occurred everywhere but was less worse in the US, and was at its worst in 2021 and then went down every year since to 2% today, and decided based on that that it was due to the current administration and the best way to solve it (even though it's down to 2% now) is to raise tariffs to 600%, well then I don't know if any candidate was going to disabuse them of that notion.

I mean she ran in 2020 and didn’t even make it to Iowa. Doesn’t that say a lot? Primaries show who can connect with voters and help candidates build momentum.

Yeah, it's not that she is a woman of color. It's that she's a woman. Misogyny is alive and well in this country. I said previously I thought it knocked a point off the top line for her (and Hillary), I'm thinking now it's more like 3.

The correct answer moving forward is nominating better democrat women candidates. One that is much stronger, maybe you could say, has a set of balls. A few who come to mind;

- Rachel Levine
- Lia Thomas
- Sam Brinton

Have to rule out Caitlyn Jenner, already taken. Cant have any women around like. Its almost like she is a man.

As a whole, Mookie has a point about the "economy".

Look at the make up of the board here:

- Only two regulars here that I can think of DON'T own a home
- I'd bet more than a few (30-40% ?) make well into the six-figures as a household (or are living at an equivalent economic status internationally)
- You easily support yourself AND kids
- Vacations/Travel (many international) are regular thing
- Y'all have retirement funds established

I've brought this point up many times over the past 3-4 years and I just get talked over. Just saying "corporate greed!!!11!1" doesn't make the situation better while you continuously flaunt the "great" economy numbers. Eventually when you do that enough, you will tick off whomever you are speaking to. As a whole, the board talks down to people who don't have money.

Good post, the economy never even fully recovered from the 2008 financial crisis and the economy that people like me got sold in the 90's (go to college and you can easily own a home) never got close to being realized for most people. Meanwhile you have states like MO voting for Trump AND a $15 min wage as well as codifying abortion into law, something the democrats had zero interest in doing for the last 50 years.

This is my only hope. That we're all plunged into global depression and we light that anger on fire. It's going to kill a lot of people, but probably less than nazis in power forever.

The problem is, it could backfire and create the second holocaust. People get really stupid when they can't eat.

One good thing that will come out of this is that the wars in the middle east and the Ukraine will end on January 21 with fair and just outcomes.

It absolutely floors me every time I see trades people or blue collar workers supporting Pervert Hoover. This man openly *brags* about not paying contractors their fair share or only hiring the cheapest fly-by-night people to evade building codes. And they *celebrate* him?!

Continually watching people vote for the Party of Leopards Eating People's Faces while complaining about the leopards that eat people's faces is infuriating.

The only way any of this changes is if there is an economic collapse. Like one that would make 1929 look like a blip. Real suffering is the only possible way to change things. The sad part is people like me would have to suffer as well.

I think it’s hard for older people to appreciate how tough their situation is if they’re not from an affluent family. I don’t think either party is doing anywhere close to enough to help them.

You and me both. My career is built upon the Infratructure act, and my wife's career sits atop Medicare/Medicaid. 71 Million people told us both to go f*ck ourselves, the promise of "cheap gas" is more important than us being employed.

Assuming they get their crazy (economic) ideas passed. Last time it was basically continuing to let the Obama expansion run out of steam until everything went to hell due to their own incompetence. And trying to boost it with a tax cut that didn't but did make the deficit much much worse. Though they time they promised to be better organized, so we'll have to see.

If anything is to actually change long term those crazy have to be implemented and everything has to fail and fail hard. Otherwise we’ll be stuck in this endless cycle of Rs messing things up, Ds try to fix it and get blamed for everything, Rs get elected to mess things up.

Conspiracy people are already trying to go back and claim 2020 was fraudulent (again!). Tons of posts about vote totals because people don’t get there are still ~10 million votes left in areas where she’s winning 60%+. Yeah, she got less than Biden, but there isn’t a missing 13 million people. If the NBC numbers are correct there’s currently around 10 million outstanding votes to be counted in areas she’s winning 60/40.

Of course not. Just like all the GOP congresspeople from states they wanted to contest the results in were just fine accepting their victories with the same “rigged” ballots.
