I think you underestimate that his army of yokels is loyal to him, personally, specifically. Every R has to kiss up to him forever. I saw a trillion Dump lawn signs driving through rural Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York this weekend. I barely saw a single downticket R sign.

Just want to point out that r's don't buy EVs. So even if they like elmo, they are not supporting him. Some are buying, but given they are very, very much campaigning against EV, yea.

And about half of elmo's original worshipers were going EV because of being green- which is anti-r. So all of that early worship is shrinking.

Even if half of dumpies worship elmo, that's less than he started with, and not enough to run Tesla- since not many of them buy new cars, let alone EVs.

I still just can’t quite get there. An insane message + Trump = 46.8% of the vote (in 2020). If Trump loses and then doesn’t run in 2028, can they, would they really try insane message without Trump? Even if Trump hand picked and enthusiastically endorsed the nominee, would people really turn out for someone other than the cult leader (to Kepler’s point)? I don’t think so. I
think they’d be looking at 41% territory - ie Jimmy Carter 1980. They must surely know that, but can they admit it to themselves and try to get rid of the insane message? If they want to try, step 1 is to purge the Trumps.

it’s a win-win for me - either GOP stays insane and gets 41% for the foreseeable future, OR the GOP pivots and moves the Overton window left by 50 years to become competitive again. I’m good either way.

I'm not saying they are going to "shut down" tesla, I'm saying his current q supporters are not buying his cars, and they won't in the near future. Or ever. And the people who did get EV's because of global warming, it seems that those customers are drying up for him- as he's pushing the exact opposite of dealing with global warming.

First of all Musk is worth over a quarter of a trillion dollars...Tesla won't bring him down.

Second HE DOESNT CARE IF PEOPLE BUY HIS CARS! You keep pretending he has some love affair with Tesla. He doesn't. He didn't create it, it's not his baby, it's a company he bought and obviously doesn't care about. He will take everything out of it he can and let it flounder and die if he so chooses. There is no consequences for people who cannot go broke. He never cared about climate change or the environment...it was all a phucking hustle so he could pretend to be the next Steve Jobs.

If he cared about people buying his cars, he would have supported Build Back Better. But he knew then and he knows now that once EVs are cost effectively made by the big boys...Tesla becomes less valuable. He will sell it to some other company and laugh all the way to the bank. SpaceX and Starlink aren't going anywhere and he knows it.

You keep thinking he will wake up on January 20th and go "well that was fun, but now back to business!" like he was some 28 year old who went on a bender over a 4 day weekend. Numbers out of Pennsylvania and NC are not great either for Trump. Politco says Pennsylvania it's seniors lagging in the early vote and a pollster analyzed the NC data and found NC GOP voters are lagging in the Trump districts hit by Helene while Dems are way up there...

I can't remember if this was discussed by Wired has an article where people were contracted to door knock for Musks superpac and flown to Michigan but were not given the specifics of who they were working for or canvassing for. They were given vague info until they signed an NDA. Then they were told they were knocking for Trump. They were driven around in the back of a U-Haul and told if they didn't connect with like 20% of the people in person they were at risk of having their motel rooms not paid for. They also didn't have licenses to drive so they had no way to leave...

These people are not normal. This is not going away.
