  • I don't like it, but better now than later if it had to happen.

But God damn are the Dems, or at least the party backers, a bunch of spineless pansies. They ran away from Obama in 2012 for no reason whatsoever, now they're forcing Biden out because they're scared.

My wife got her wish, though. Guess we'll see how it turns out.

    • Biden endorsed Kamala, which moves the next question to "Do the Biden delegates stay loyal, or does it become a legendary ****show?"

We know which one is good for ratings, so I'm not hopeful.

He’s dropping out. It’s not like he stayed in the race and the primary was overridden at the convention.

Does he have to stay in the race against his will?

        What if he dropped dead?

Biden was probably going to lose. If he didn’t agree, he wouldn’t have dropped out. Harris, who he will endorse, might lose as well, but right now she has more upside.

And he is right. The Democratic Party is just a less (barely) bigoted version of the GOP. None of us matter, only the rich donor class does. Which we already knew but at least they pretend for a while...they just backed up every lie he has told since '16 about Bernie and '20 about his election. What a joke the Dems couldn't get laid in a whorehouse with George Clooneys looks and cash.

I will vote blue in '24 then I'm out. Phuck this. If they cant take Democracy seriously neither can I. I might change my mind if Harris goes uncontested...but not likely. They won't miss me or my piddling donations and I won't miss them. I will stick to Minnesota elections until they ruin me too.

I hope you Biden haters are happy! Even Hillary got more respect than this.

She comes out hard for Biden at all stops as does Pete. Biden has the vast majority of tbe party backing him and even the Old White Brigade are cracking.

There was never any there there...this whole thing was manufactured by people who wanted him and Harris gone. (And some clowns like Phillips and Schmidt) There is no mechanism to make that happen and with Tim Walz as head of rules there was going to be no shenanigans. The second the Congressional Black Caucus and AOC went public the goose was cooked. They also underestimated the backlash from the actual voters most of whom were against this even in polling.

You keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. He didn't drop out because of his health or because he thinks Harris is a better choice and you know it. He dropped out because the party that nominated him pushed him out and everyone knows it.

Replacing Biden is not a thing. You are advocating subverting the will of the voters. There is no time for this a contested convention will be worse electorally than even your worst Biden projection. You will split the base at best. And if they oust Harris (they will) you will see every coalition revolt.

Polling changes. He is the nominee screw with that and it's a guarantee we lose.

You don't protect democracy by being anti-democratic. We can't redo the Primaries. That makes us no better than the GOP.

Edit: I get the fear...but polling hasn't moved in weeks despite negative press aplenty. Trump has gained zilch. You would be handing him a massive advantage.

Biden needed to make up ground at the debate and put the “he’s too old thing” to bed. The fact that polling didn’t move was damming — he needed polling to move in his favor.

Yes, as much as certain posters here have decried how "DNC rigged it" with the last eleventy-billion primaries, despite the fact that the people who won those got, you know, the most votes and most delegates by far, and those who lost those primaries had all of the chance in the world to make their arguments and like them or not the people just didn't go for their message, this action more or less does that and gives them the ammo they need for their argument. Not that it was ever a sincere argument, since they threw it out whenever things didn't go exactly the way they wanted; and it kinda rings hollow when you then turn around and jerk it to someone who tried to violently stop election certification. But I guess it's proof if you throw enough crap at the wall some of it is bound to stick, and through certain sad lenses I guess that can be made to look like an accomplishment.
