Aside from the Branch penalty the Lions played a clean game. So I suppose I need to give them credit for doing all the small things to get the victory. A road win in Green Bay, while becoming more common, is still something to celebrate after all.

I really wish the D would clean up their act. As in their actual acting on the field. The ejection for Branch can be debated, but he put himself into that position when the ball was already dropped- pretty pointless. And then the follow up 15... come on. And then the late game unsportsmanlike that extended the GB drive into a TD.

When Arnold was making a lot of DPI, I was ok with it, as he was being aggressive and close- just need to understand the difference in the step up. And he learned from it.

But these penalties on what happened today are just selfish plays to make themselves look good. Dan needs to deal with this himself.

        • Did the ref just miss a face masking call? Darnold has a reason to be horked off right now.

The NFL rulebook apparently has a carve out. Any contact to Sam Darnold's head is perfectly fine. Rip his helmet off, punch him in the head, break his neck by twisting the facemask...no penalty.

The official that original threw that flag will get fined appropriately. Need to know the rules.

                • now those missed calls had a lot more impact on the game. They should have given Cincinnati another chance for the go ahead 2 point conversion, but a missed hold and a missed hit to the QB facemask meant that the Bengals didn't get a chance to go ahead.

Replay assist for at least the player safety facemask/strike to the helmet would go a long way. Especially when there is mechanism to remove the call.

                  • That was the first win for a team that was down by more than 15 AND had 5 INT's since 1970. Holy cow, Lions, I thought you were dead in the first quarter. But the D came back and held the Texans to nothing in the 2nd half. What a win for Detroit.

The Lions are normally on the losing side of that game- get multiple turn overs, go up by double digits, and lose on a game ending FG.

The stat they had last night said that it hasn't happened since 1970.
