I wouldn't think Houston would be on board with that one.

I honestly don't know how 2028 is possible. Like... WHAT? ENtirely new stadiums are built in less time than that. Am I missing something here?

There’s some politics going on with the funding. It was agreed upon but wasn’t technically going to be voted on until later. Now there’s some issue with the council both current and elected one coming in that might not be able to pass it.

            • MLB is going to test run their Ball/Strike challenge system at 13 Spring Training sites next March.

Basically this will determine if we get this full-time in '26.

I think what they had in AAA was about as good as you can have:

              - Umpires still call every pitch
              - Only Batter/Pitcher/Catcher can call for a challenge
              - Each team gets 3 "wrong" challenges. As long as the person issuing the challenge is correct, the challenge doesn't count against you.
              - Results shown on the scoreboard
              - System can be voluntarily "ignored" by teams in the late innings of blowout games (big issue with fully automated Ball/Strike calling)
It's never too early to start the Pre-game festivities

              Go Cats!!! GO BLACKHAWKS!

Cuck the Fubs... Let's Go WHITE SOX!!!

isn't that just saying they don't have to challenge?

Fully automatic balls and strikes at lower levels mean you can't expand the zone in blowouts to speed up the game. Which is technically correct (the best kind of correct) but no one wants to watch a team up 10 runs get a bunch of walks against the mop up duty pitchers.

                  • Ohhhhhhhhhh. I thought that was referring to the challenge system. Not fully automated.

While testing the fully automated system in AAA there were several games where position players came in to close out blowouts and ended up walking in several runs. Because of the arc on their low velocity pitches (50-60MPH) and just general inaccuracy, it made the zone extremely difficult to hit.

In these situations, players don't swing a ton since they know they have a glorified BP pitcher in the game. The only real swings come on 2-strike counts.

Knowing nutting those seats could very well be top level last row upper deck behind home plate

I'm glad Philly is out. I can't see TOR being able to stay in the mix. I guess after the dollar goes into freefall...
