How is it scored then for the batter? It can't possibly be considered an at bat. I got to think it's like a walk -- not an at bat. If so, I don't understand your comment.

I think it's actually counted as an at bat.
That community is already in the process of dissolution where each man begins to eye his neighbor as a possible enemy, where non-conformity with the accepted creed, political as well as religious, is a mark of disaffection; where denunciation, without specification or backing, takes the place of evidence; where orthodoxy chokes freedom of dissent; where faith in the eventual supremacy of reason has become so timid that we dare not enter our convictions in the open lists, to win or lose.

It counts as a plate appearance, but not an at-bat and doesn’t affect OBP.

        • Someone shared a YouTube link of the entire 5th inning and OMG. What a disaster!! How??? How does Cole not go to first to cover? Even if the first baseman was going to run towards it, you make the effort! And Judge's miscue of that easy fly ball??? How does a player of that skill take his eye off the ball? Volpe's throw to third I could kinda see because he didn't want to hit Hernandez, but still. That was Red Sox-level of defensive incompetence. I'm kind of impressed. That was an epic level disaster.

It's what we all said in Little League: "make them make the play."

He's honestly really good in his breakdowns. Some of them are a bit bro-like, but all of them provide some sort of insight.
He also often reaches out to the players/managers to just double-check that he's not making a random assumption on things.

                      • The A’s officially changed their name to the Athletics yesterday. No city name and their abbreviation will be ATH.

It’s supposed to be for three years before the move to Vegas, but I’m still not convinced a Vegas ballpark deal will happen.

Their name was always officially Athletics.

Just like the Mets name is officially the Metropolitans (technically, the New York Metropolitan Baseball Club, Inc.)

I meant they are now just the Athletics. Not the Oakland Athletics, not the Sacramento Athletics, they’re just the Athletics.

Merge them with the Utah Hockey Club, and we'll have something... :-)
