LA is better, even without Ohtani, but I did not expect the Yankees to embarrass themselves.

I have never seen a defensive breakdown like that in my life.

Three errors, plus not covering first which was ruled a hit that would’ve ended the inning, and then a balk on a third pickoff attempt.

                  And a catcher's interference.

The balls on the umpire to actually make that call.

That’s one of the errors. The catcher gets an error, although the batter doesn’t get dinged for reaching on an error.

                        • With the Dodgers winning last night Yoshinobu Yamamoto became the first player to win a World Series, World Baseball Classic, and an Olympic Gold Medal. That makes him baseball’s first Triple Gold winner.

Unless MLB does an Olympic break for LA I’d imagine he’ll be the only one for a while, maybe ever. You’d have to be an amateur/minor leaguer to play in the Olympics, which is already going to be a sporadic tournament (tho LA and Australia will have it), then hit the calendar right with the WBC. On top of having to win the WS, which with expansion likely coming soon will be even more difficult.

Yeah, Yamamoto got really lucky. An almost perfect confluence of events in a three year period. Granted, Yamamoto really helped by being a **** good pitcher (he also won a Japan Series in 2022 with Orix).
