    • Eh. They're so in the zone I'm sure it's basically subconscious at this point when it comes to drowning out noise.

For sure. That and Judge was hounded by every kid in the Little League complex as soon as the bus got there. And other Yankees spent time with the team. Not really sure what caused the coach to go off specifically on Judge.

          • Danny Jansen will catch for Boston against Toronto on Monday in the continuation of a suspended game. Jansen played for the Jays during the start of the game, so he will become the first ever player to play for both teams in the same game.

And he will be catching his own at-bat. He was down 0-1 in the count when the game was suspended.

I have never wanted someone to pop out to the catcher more than I do today.

Someone else pointed out that had the count been two strikes, he could have been credited with his own put-out.

                • In perhaps the most anticipated sports memorabilia auction ever, the jersey worn by baseball legend Babe Ruth when he "called his shot" in Game 3 of the 1932 World Series has sold for $24.12 million with Heritage Auctions, setting an auction record for most expensive sports collectible.

The sale of the New York Yankees road Ruth jersey, which includes the standard 20% buyer's premium, was available to the public for the first time in 19 years.

The previous record price for any sports collectible sold at auction was for a rare mint condition Topps 1952 Mickey Mantle card, which sold for $12.6 million in 2022. The Ruth jersey also far eclipsed the $10.1 million that a Michael Jordan Chicago Bulls jersey from Game 1 of the 1998 NBA Finals fetched that same year at auction.
A bad cause requires many words.

                  • Chicago loses #100 on the year. They join 03 Detroit, 62 NYM, and 1899 Cleveland as the only teams to reach 100 losses in August.

It’s also the fastest a team has lost 100 since the 1916 Athletics.

Think they'll finish with 40 wins or less?

They have to go 9-22 to unseat us as the worst team in modern baseball. They actually have a decent shot.

I think so. With the new playoff system there's less of a chance of running into teams out of the playoffs in September. But they may get saved with nine games against Oakland and the Angels.

                              • Tigers move within 4.5 of the playoffs.

And the White Sox nearly walk-off the Rangers, but instead get an all-timer of a HR robbery and lose 4-3 to get swept in the DH. 31-103 now.
