UAA beat UMass-Lowell in OT. UAA did blow a 2-0 lead so that's not great.

Woah, Michigan playing a road non-conference game? Did UMASS agree to play like the next 80 games in the series in Ann Arbor?

The previous post was an exaggeration. The Times regrets the error.

Yep... They only scored three in the 2nd =)

I'm more concerned about listening to the radio call with ZERO crowd/arena noise in the background. It's strange.

What's the outlook on Northern this year? Compete for the MacNaughton?

MTU seems to be the pre-season favorite across the board. NMU was picked 2nd with BGSU and the husk of MSU following.

We've got a ton of experience and added some transfers who should be able to make some noise. Overall though the CCHA will be a grind with the entire conference beating up on each other.

Interesting. NMU has been on the cusp for what seems like several years. Not that I have anything against Tech, but would be fun to see the Wildcats make their way back into the NCAAs.

And I am really interested to see what happens with Minnesota State. Feel really bad for those kids, but this will test their resiliency. I don't know anything about the depth of the CCHA, but I would think a Top-4 finish would be a tremendous result for the Mavs.

On the cusp is putting it nicely. It's been a tease, and not in a good way.

NMU simply hasn't been able to put a full season together going back 20 years. We have 4 title game appearances in the past 14 seasons, but only a single At-large bid, and not once have we been on the bubble. Every season we lose some games that we shouldn't and we pay the price for it.

As to the CCHA, Ferris and LSSU will be the bottom and by large margin. For the contenders, it'll come down to who stubs their toe against them the worst. St. Thomas is a wild card as they are reaping the rewards from recruiting as a full-on D-1 now. They WILL win some games they aren't expected to this year.

Yeah, St. Thomas has already surprised this season (beat St. Cloud, currently leading the Gophers in the 3rd). I certainly wouldn't expect them to be in the top tier in the CCHA over the course of the season, but it sounds like they could decide who ultimately lifts some conference hardware.

Down goes #1! New Hampshire holds off top-ranked BU 6-4.

Meanwhile, #2 Minnesota reasserting itself against St. Thomas, scoring three unanswered in about a 5 minutes span to turn a 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 advantage. (**ETA** St. Thomas ties it up at 5 with just under 7 to play).

Elsewhere, #4 Boston College held off Long Island to grab a 4-2 victory, while #5 Quinnipiac scored an extra-attacker goal to force OT against AIC before winning in the extra frame. #6 Michigan dominated UMASS 7-2 in a rare road non-conference game for the Wolverines, and # 7 North Dakota handled Army (also 7-2) in the Icebreaker. #8 Michigan State is in a close contest with Air Force, up 3-2 going into the final twenty minutes, and #10 St. Cloud State suffered a 3-2 OT loss to Minnesota State.

Apparently I can’t read USCHO correctly. Thought the game was over at 3-2. Uff da.

I typically follow CHN's live scoreboard. There are hiccups every so often, such as completely having the wrong result, but it is pretty accurate.

Minnesota and St. Thomas tied with just over 4 to play.
