And I don’t see a world where the Minnesota or Michigan schools drop down from D1.
No idea. Like I said, it won’t happen. None of the Minnesota or Michigan schools are dropping and that means UAA and UAF won’t either. But it’s not stopping people from speculating.

Maybe AIC isn’t dropping the program entirely because they need hockey to meet the sponsored sports minimum?

Could be. Reading elsewhere they’re also not in great shape as an institution. Cost cutting measure that may just be a sign of the whole university going down.

      • Tonight was the prime example of why being an independent is *ing brutal.

UAA and UAF go into OT. On the face off to begin OT UAA gets called for a face off violation (after calling two other penalties the whole game) for using their hand even though the player used his stick along the ice. Naturally UAF scored on the power play.

The frustrating part is that nothing will happen with the officials. The CCHA will blow it off while UAA loses one of the most important games of the season. Argh.

        • Wisconsin loves OT. 8 conference games with 4 going to the extra period. They didn’t have a good series against Lindenwood but they’ve been playing everyone except Denver close, just can’t pull out many wins.

ND does not look like a typical ND squad. Jackson’s last year might be a couple seasons late.

And the good D3 schools clobber those D2 schools. Heck, even bad D3 schools will win sometimes against the D2 schools.

Unless you really want to go to that school for an academic reason, a player deciding not to play D1, is most likely going to choose a school that plays with a national championship tournament as a carrot.

                  For D2, 40.

                  • Notre Dame put out a graphic telling fans what and what not to wear in Belfast. It said no green, nothing that says Irish or Fighting Irish. No shamrocks, leprechauns, or the Ireland flag. Under what to wear, it was essentially blue and gold, the ND interlock logo, or something that’s says Notre Dame.

Well, that apparently didn’t go over well because they had to come out with this statement.

The best part is the jerseys they’re wearing for the event say Irish and have a shamrock.

That’s a wild thread. Even before the rumor post you’ve got people defending him, like people just resign mid series if something didn’t happen.
