Very spirited games, but UND just had too many defensive lapses. Our guys are not offensively creative enough to generate those chances on their own - I was shocked how many open looks we got down low.
If you don't change the world today, how can it be any better tomorrow?

It doesn't help things that North Dakota was missing several key players (I believe we played tonight without the extra skater due to numerous injuries). But, Cornell took care of the numerous chances they were provided. Kudos to them for getting the sweep. The Big Red were clearly the better team this weekend.

Good luck to Cornell the rest of the way. Hopefully, UND can turn things around and maybe we can play again in March/April.

It is. I settled on calling Clark “Second Jimmy” last season, making the leap to this meme a pretty short one.

Both teams were missing key players, but I think it's clear both teams are solid. I'm going to assume the missing Sioux were defensive, since they were pretty shockingly deficient on D, but they are terrifying in the offensive zone and once those NoDak players are back, and they deport the aptly-named Jackson Kunz back to whichever Russian prison he is on the lam from to avoid Donetsk deployment, the Sioux will be fine.

I LOVE how many North Dakota fans came to Lynah! Virtually no ECAC team travels as well, which is criminal. I had a great time talking with your fans at the rink and in restaurants and bars, and thank you so much for showing up en masse to support your boys. That is a great fan base!

Yeah, UND was missing two of its top defensemen, plus a couple of its top scorers. On the flip side, Cornell was playing its first series (that counted) on the season, so it was probably a wash (particularly if Cornell was missing key players too). UND has shown flashes of being an elite team this season, but has been far too inconsistent. I'd like to think a lot of that is fixable, but I guess we will see.

I'm glad you got to interact with our fans, and I'm sure they enjoyed it as well. I didn't get to make the trek out to Lynah this time, but here's to hoping these programs continuing playing series in the future (and of course, meet again in St. Louis this season). I think Cornell has won the last 4 or 5 in this series, so I think we're due.

Obviously, everyone saw this coming. It was especially pounded home a week or two ago when a Gopher recruit announced he’s going to the CHL and DIDN’T decommit.

                          • There’s the obvious “what does the USHL do now?” and a good suggestion I saw on r/hockey was just have USHL join the CHL as a fourth league.

                              • Well, that could have been bad.

Gotta love a weekend where you outshoot your opponents 64-29 and nearly get dragged to overtime twice.
