  • I read his crap on here, too. Why are you guys engaging with the troll? It’s not a discussion or debate, it’s yelling at clouds.

Just as it’s been since 2020. Crazy how worked up the antivaxxors when people pass basic info, or when other people take personal responsibility in a way they don’t like. It’s one thing that they don’t want to wear masks, it’s a very different thing when they force others not to.

And arguing vaccine effectiveness is as old as the vaccine, and the data has always shown the gross majority of hospitalizations and deaths are from antivaxxors even when they are a minority of the population. But they ride on the fact that the vaccine isn’t 100% effective- as if that’s new data. In their mind not 109% = 0%.

      • At this point, it's a campaign issue...

DERP is losing 60/40 and they realize it. But the R's are beholden to what the MAGAs scream about... They are gonna drive the party right off the cliff in '24.

Just let them go and enjoy some popcorn while the clown show continues on it's path.

I have no idea where you live, but a lot of you folks are targeting the Florida situation, so we'll begin there. A majority of voters there apparently don't want their young kids exposed to certain things that go against their beliefs or their religion, so when they encounter radical leftists trying to indoctrinate their young impressionable kids with stuff they don't believe, they have a right to voice their objections. And sometimes even pass laws to codify the school's obligations to their students and their families - stuff that used to be common sense, until leftists decided to keep on pushing as far as they could until they got a reaction. And eventually, that reaction happened, laws were passed, and were since enacted and implemented. The school districts/libraries have every right to file an appeal on whether the legislation is constitutional.

Mind you, there are zero (0) "right wing nut jobs" who are talking about taking these books entirely out of circulation. So, if you feel so strongly about having your 6 yr. old kid - not someone else's kid - read something about CRT or gender theory (notice how both are theories - not facts), you can jump on-line and order it for delivery to your very own doorstep for your very own 6 yr. old kid via amazon.com. Right now, even.

Try it, I promise, it will work, and better yet, you'll have that book in your household for as long as you want it, and you never have to return it, or share it with anyone. All yours.

So now, here's the part where you can agree, understand that folks can disagree, but we all agree books shouldn't be destroyed ... OR you tell me this is simply not good enough for you, and you want to force your theoretical leftist views on other kids, and other kids' parents, and exactly why you feel you have the right to override the rights of those parents to shield their kids from what they may view as half-baked leftist propaganda - not even remotely approaching anyone's idea of what constitutes core currciculum, i.e. reading, math, history, science, etc.

If you disagree with Moms for Liberty, then by all means, go out there and have your say, attend school board meetings, heck, run for the school board yourself and if you get a majority of folks to agree with your position, then presto - you get elected, and you get to make the local decisions and have input into possible future laws, just like the folks down in Florida did. This is what real representative democracy looks like. Power to the people, etc. The best school districts have the most voter interaction, and the worst have the least. Go make a difference, man!!!

This has been a right wing rhetorical trick for ever. I used to use it myself (I still might, though I'm working on that).

"<Policy I don't like> isn't 100% effective, and therefore bad!" is then transposed onto anything.
                          • Moving from ICE to EV? not 100% clean, therefore bad!
                          • Handing out stimulus during covid, then offering loans to business? not 100% effective, therefore bad (unless they're taking these loans, of course)
                          • More restrictive gun regulation! won't eliminate all gun crimes, therefore bad!

On and on, and nothing is fixed, because the people thqt call everyone else snowflakes are offended.

                            • I really don’t get why public schools are under such attack. I would send them in a heartbeat. I went to public school, and two different state universities, and I turned out fine. Sure, there are individual schools and districts that suffer, but that is more a case of r’s cutting instead of investing for the long term than not.

And I’m also smart enough to know that public schools can do a far better job than I can teaching.

As for the diverse input, that gives us something to talk about. Maybe I can even learn something if I listen.

The right is deconstructing the entire Deep State. That includes all Government run Institutions. Public Schools are a HUGE one in this area. They would rather privatize everything (which is always more expensive overall), then work towards the common good. Privatizing also allows them to line the proper pockets with tons of cash.
