I get what you're asking, but I just don't think the risk vs. reward was well thought out by Ukraine.

What I don't get is, why would Ukraine do that? It's a much larger risk to their relationship with their European allies than any damage to Russia's Treasury.
I can think of one reason. With Nordstream, Russian oil is so cheap in Germany they can't say no to it, and they won't risk Russian anger by supporting Ukraine. Blow Nordstream to make Russian oil competitive in price with other sources, and suddenly Germany grows a "conscience."

Was going to post exactly this. If they really did do it, I bet it was with the thought of making sure the Germans wouldn't renege when the weather gets a little cold.

My thoughts exactly. I'm sure the german government was uber ****ed, but I don't think Ukraine had an option. It was still a ballsy-as-**** decision and can't say it doesn't make me uneasy.

I read something that the r s are using racism as a strategy now. So much for progress.

Jesus H. Fu**ing Christ. Russia is shelling Kherson *WHILE* rescue efforts are underway to help evacuate people there from the flooding.

*Edit* Also, the region being flooded and shelled is also in "Russian Territory," with "Russian" nationalists according to themselves (territory Russia started this whole goddammed war over), yet Russia isn't offering any help to those locals.

Apparently, the signal across UA media to start the counteroffensive was Enjoy the Silence.

It is early, but ISW reports on the counter-offensive have not been positive. One report talked about an advance of 200 meters, which sounds like the Somme, and the largest advance into Russian-occupied territory I have seen so far is 1.2 km. UA seems to be absorbing high casualties and damage to heavy equipment, including their best tanks.

All it proves is the Russians are not abandoning their positions without a fight. No surprise as they have had a year to entrench.
