I agree entirely the flag should be intimate to what it is representing. Minnesotans should define what makes Minnesota home to them. As an outsider, I think of:

• cold
• isolation
• socialism
• white people

like... why? When is the last time you've had to draw a flag of anything? We have modern printing and textile manufacturing. We don't need simple as a maximum. We need something that the populace it represents uniquely identifies with.

A nondescript star is not identifiable as Minnesota. Lakes, prairies, woods, loons, walleyes, hotdish, and yes, the North Star. What makes the North Star identifiable is its presence over the landscape. Otherwise it's just colorblind Texas.

But the Minnesota flags could be flown over any state capitol. Great flags would look out of place anywhere but where they're flown.

Simple can be beautiful (NM) or cool (whatever Alaska's abbrev. is). The new not racist MS flag is nice.

Pretty much every other state flag than those, CA, and IN sucks. Except SC is funny because people keep thinking it's Muzzie.
