Handy doesn't understand. All those so-called moderate Republicans, the never-Trumpers? The people who might vote for Nerita or Deathsantis or someone else? They aren't the Republican party anymore. They may have an 'R' after their name, but they ain't the party.

The Republican party as it stands today is the party of Donald Trump, Matt Gaetz and MTG. The crazy, the Nazi, the unabashed cruelty, and yes, the stupid, isn't a bug. It's a feature. And the more the better.
What kind of cheese are you planning to put on top?

I don't think Handy is arguing Trump won't get the nomination.

Where I worry more than anything is that the Democrats will continue to fail at getting the message out they are the right party to move America forward, that whatever damage Trump will inflict on the GQP won't matter after 2024 because we'll be right back to worrying about losing Congress instead of dominating representation.

And that is why Nikki Haley the only one who is officially in the race with him right now is not fighting him head on. She thinks she can beat him with his base, and grab all the others. I don't see how that is even possible for any of them.

CPAC straw poll and just reporters asking questions they're all Trumpers.

No one wants to take him head-on, because they don't want him attacking them back directly. So they will try to skirt around the edges, hoping that he is <50% of the party and they can be the other choice >50% eventually flock to. It was everyone else's strategy in 2016 and it worked great!

If the RNC was smart, they’d work with state parties to change their awarding of delegates during the primaries from winner-take-all in most of the states, even if a candidate like Trump won 35% of the vote, to proportional awarding of delegates, like Democrats do. Trump wins 35% of the vote, he receives 35% of the delegates. He may still lead at the end but it might prevent him from clinching outright.

I think they should leave it alone. It is the perfect system for them that winner takes all. They are assured the best candidate possible in that scenario.

And they will swallow his knob afterwards, like Cruz and Romney, no matter how viciously he cuts them, because they are a party of amoral cowards with a constituency of frightened, stupid, superstitious toddlers.

I don't think she thinks she can beat him at all. I think this is a pure attempt to raise her profile and possibly get Trump's VP nod.

I don't think it will work, as Kari Lake would debase herself in ways Haley probably wouldn't, but who knows.

More deregulation. That always works out well. Great outcomes.

A proposed book ban failed in Arkansas.

That said, Arkansas is still pushing a bill that charges trans people with sexual assault if a minor happens to be in the bathroom with them.
