If there is an "incident", the first step is gonna be Biden trying to talk them down. If it's looking like a legit thing, I would imagine there will be a threat of charging people as traitors.

Unfortunately those of us that are sane are gonna have to be sympathetic. We won't be able to mobilize the military and literally swat the fly that the "rebellion" would be with a bazooka.

Well the problem the Benedict Arnolds have is, the groups they would need to pull off a true coup or even just maintain a civil war are the groups they are openly fighting against. The Qucumbers and the GQP are spitting in the face of military leadership and the FBI daily. You aren't going to take down the federal government with Meal Team 6...

I mean, there are two different classes of threats. The Meal Team 6 members and the McVeighs. The former will fold at the moment the government returns fire. The latter are the real danger. We already locked up some fo the leaders of the Proud BOys, so that's already getting ahead of the curve.

Edit: I think handy is right, it's the dispersed nature of the threat. Which is why I'm most concerned about the lone wolfs. Local law enforcement is best setup to handle small scale dispersed threats. Problem is, they're the ones most likely to be at the heart of the problem.

It will be terrorism like the IRA. America has zero tolerance for extra-legal conflict resolution -- it's bad for bidness. Anybody who openly resorts to terrorism will be ostracized. That means no national organization can back a coup. That leaves small scale militias and long wolves, and both are easily picked off by law enforcement.

It will still suck. But it won't become all out anarchy like Somalia or Iraq after the decapitation of the regime, because our institutions will still be here. The recoil against the Right will force it to either choose to play along inside the system (while hypocritically winking at the murderers) of go full Wolverines imbecile. The Hawley creeps will do the former while the MTG morons will do the latter. That leaves the average derp-on-the-street with conflicting allegiances. The result historically is that the conspirators turn on each other and society has to step around the bodies for a while as the scum mow each other down in their Fanaticism Olympics.

That is likely what happens to the GOP after Dump dies.

The great irony is the Rough Individualists on the Radicalized Right are all dependent on government largess. They have cop jobs and USG benefits and they live on handouts from Uncle Sugar. If they rebel they lose all that. These are cowards with no principles. The wealthy demagogues who tell them to light up the Treasury building aren't going to pay them.

I don't think so. They're either going to go full frontal or do nothing at all. The days of "terrorism is bad" have long since passed if their skin color is white. McVeigh might have once been a pariah, today he'd be a hero.

That said I don't see this concept having legs. While there are plenty of scary voices on social media, the majority do not have such incomprehensible and violent views on how to move the country forward. We know this because the racist pigs are no longer in hiding and yet they're still not that common in every day life.

You remember Jan 6th right? The MAGAytes don't care about any of that. They still think Trump is going to save them, they still think Pence should hang and they don't pay attention to anything else. The cops who are part of these groups don't care about anything...they are openly hostile and anti-democratic even when their livelihood is on the line. They see themselves as the end all be all of law enforcement and no librul commie is gunna stop em! And that is true in Blue States and Red. (ask California and New York) If things get out of control the cops will be doing everything they can to make sure the side they support wins. Watch any of the George Floyd protests and you will see. Hell they helped a kid murder people and flee in Wisconsin and turned a blind eye to other violence all over the country.

These people think they are the heroes of the story man. Remember the protests in Arizona, where the people who were yelling "stop the count" were singing Rage Against the Machine Songs unironically? They don't even realize they are the machine! They don't understand they live in a world Brandon is coming to steal their guns and the Chinese and Ukraine helped Biden win. Putin is a good guy in their world. Their welfare and disability isn't a handout and social security isn't socialism.
