    This is not the general, it is the Republican Nomination. They want a Trump like character. If he isn't willing to get dirty, and do it well, he will be another Jeb Bush. Hell he basically already is which is why Faux just let Trump crap all over him with no pushback. They saw their attempts to prop up Ronny were worthless to their viewers.

    Ronnie screwed up twice. First he should have waited to run. Second, once he decided to run he should have been playing along with the media's attempt to paint him as a more moderate version of Trump. Every media outlet was setting him up as the "sensible" GOP candidate and he ran away from it on Day 1. Maybe he thought it would make him look like a sellout. That forced him into an insult war. Instead he plays up his Trump like credentials and destroys the narrative. Now Trump is basically laughing at him in public and Ronny looks like the fat kid in gym class who needs his inhaler playing kickball. Ignoring the bully only works in the movies and in sitcoms.

    Ronny lost the second he couldn't respond. Trump's ego may be going nuts, but so are his donations and his support.

    Why would Donnie's cult want a Trump clone when they can have the real thing? For some reason, the Trump cult look at him and see charm and a certain charisma. Nobody ever accused Deathsantis of having either.

      Agreed, which is why he should have chosen not to run. He is tanking any national future he has fighting a losing battle.

      I mean think about it...Trump is painting Ron DeSantis as the "Pro Vaccine" candidate while also mocking the Flo(R)ida COVID death numbers. If Ron was half the politician the media pretends he is (and some on the Left who seem to think he is a formidable candidate) he would have a field day with this. Instead he is sitting there in his dunce cap and hip waders wondering why no one is coming to his party. He is a fat, pathetic loser and he was often shielded from that by being the leader of a state filled with fat pathetic losers but now that he is trying to play with the big boys is being embarrassed. And I am here for all of it!

          Yes. I guess he's not as smart as everybody was portraying him as, because this was the obvious play and he blew his first (only?) major political decision.

          You can't force good timing but you can sidestep bad timing, when it's obvious from the first moment.

          There is a non-zero possibility that these lunatics live in such a different Weltanschauung that those observations don't show up on their radar. We grew up with Republicans who talked nonsense but were carefully calibrating it to enrage and milk the derps, all the while knowing the real facts and planning their heists accordingly. But we are in a post-fact fascist world now where truth literally is what the leader says it is. That was one of the salient points of Arendt's tome. The line between the cynical sociopaths raking it in and the slobbering dou-chnozzles taking it in the as-s for them began to erode with Palin, but it is now gone and rather those are two Venn circles whose intersection approaches 100% every year.

                              Yep, exactly. He even said this morning that when "woke" first started he was fascinated by the topic and would seek out articles on it. But now that it's at this level of stupidity he doesn't anymore.

                                This is exactly the same as the use of "moonbat" - something I 100% partook in for a short time - that was funny at first and then immediately became so overused that it was meaningless (not that it ever really wasn't). When I heard my dad call a Republican a moonbat I knew it was time to stop using it.
