And the Jets beat Pittsburgh this year specifically because Pittsburgh scored a TD when they should not have.

You play the time in that situation. Any Vikings idiocy does not factor into this.

Thought it was Warner, in 2000?

ETA: As to the last MVP/Super Bowl winner being Favre.
Well, I'm going on the NFL's page, so I think they know https://www.nfl.com/news/chiefs-qb-p...ers%20to%20win

edit- and they are pretty sneaky putting in Warner. But technically, 2000 is the last century.

            I don't think they do.

ETA. Yeah, TD won the MVP and Super Bowl in the 98 season, and Warner repeated the feat in 99. NFL article you cite is wrong.

play to win- which also means not giving your opponent a chance. Even if it's less exciting.

Still only 7 MVP and SB champs over 57 seasons is pretty something.

It's a lot more than 7. Hell a kicker won both the MVP and Super Bowl in the same season.

ETA: Yep. 11 times the Regular Season MVP won the Super Bowl.

Just reporting what the NFL thinks-

Having defeated the Eagles during a 2021 matchup in his only start against the team, Mahomes would join Warner, Brett Favre (Green Bay Packers; 1996), Steve Young (San Francisco 49ers; 1994), Joe Montana (49ers; 1989), Terry Bradshaw (Pittsburgh Steelers; 1978) and Bart Starr (Packers; 1966) as the only players to win an MVP and Super Bowl in the same season with a triumph on Sunday.
Seems like a list of QB's only.... kind of a misleading article from the NFL.

And your quote is wrong. Looks like they are only counting QBs.

                        Bart Starr - 66
                        Terry Bradshaw - 78
                        Mark Moseley - 82

                        Joe Montana - 89
                        Emmitt Smith - 93
                        Steve Young - 94
                        Brett Favre - 96
                        TD - 98
                        Warner - 99

Don't shoot the reposter. The quote is the quote, they were wrong.

Still, 11 out of 57 is not that common. Especially in this century.

Hell I was the cashier for Moseley at a Giant Food grocery once. That's my claim to fame!

                            • James Bradberry, who had the holding call that set KC up for the win, says the refs got the call right. Said he was hoping they would let it slide but that he did grab the jersey.

Wow, that almost never happens. Good for him.

As an aside, noting the improvement for Jalen Hurts as well as the cap space that Phily has for the future, I'd wager that the Eagles will show up in the SB one more time in the next 5 years. They are a very good team and still have room to improve. Which is good for those of us who really dislike Dallas.
